The best small printer in 2019
Update 5/20/2019:I was getting major under extrusion. I found that the extruder arm that provides the tension was starting to break. I replaced that arm with an old all-metal MK8 extruder arm I had laying around. It was a good drop in replacement. I still give this machine 5 stars... If I could lower it to 4.5 I would, but the rest of this machine was engineered/manufactured quite well.Update 5/13/2019 (a few days later):- this printer is simply amazing- the nozzle heats up so fast, I don't even have to preheat- haven't had to level the bed since the first time- the biggest con for this printer is that the extruder skips if I print above 40mm/s. I usually like to print 60mm/s for the infill :(. But this isn't a deal breaker.Pros:* The design looks pretty.* For a small printer, it's build volume is relatively big (130mm³) compared to the monoprice select mini (120mm³) delta mini (120mm circle).* The hotswappable nozzle/thermistor/heater combo is easy to install/uninstall.* Even though it's only 130mm² bed, it's extra long. So I was able to make a removable flex magnetic build plate from lexan and magnetic tape* Removable stepper drivers (I replaced the A4988s with TMC2208 with ease)* Makes a great "safe" printer because no heated bed and nozzle is tucked away* There is an official S3D profile* Works with octoprint* Touchscreen with decent UI* My 2nd print was a benchy and it was accurate within 0.07mm. I was shocked. It took me months of upgrades and tuning to get my other Chinese printers this accurate.* Very light and "portable".Cons:* PLA only (maybe tpu)* The hotswappable nozzle/thermistor/heater combo is proprietary and it may be expensive/hard to find (haven't looked). They included 2 extras.* No heated bed. It came with a buildtak-like material. Pair this with a home made flex plate and it's makes no heated beat not a big deal.* Firmware is not the usual Marlin. I don't know much about this firmware but I typed in M503 and got nothing. I wanted baby stepping :(. They released the firmware source for the A10M though.* Fans are a bit loud (easy to replace)

I hate to say it, but stay away.
Purchased on GearBest, I had to come here to warn you away from this printer. The first one stopped responding to the temerature sensor on their fancy nozzles. Complained, got a second one. printed the test print just fine and then crashed the touchscreen. I'm trying to fix it, but this machine is not easy to repair. I want to like this printer, because it represents the sort of improvement in UI that 3D printing needs, but they're 0/2 with me.

Extreme Value - Great for Novice!
I decided to give this tiny Geeetech a chance, and I have not regretted my decision at all. I actually purchased straight from Geeetech, but felt compelled to share my experience with my printer here on Amazon. I am a novice 3D Printer, and this was in fact the first 3D Printer I have ever used, let alone owned. That said, I think the E180 is the PERFECT combination of functionality and ease-of-use. I had the printer opened, assembled, leveled, and printing in less than an hour. That included following the User Manual, word for word. At first I had no idea what any of the many settings meant, but out of the box, the settings are such that you can literally insert your Micro SD Card (which is included) or print from your laptop, with no problems.Upon unboxing the printer, it is clear that this printer is geared towards novice printers in the sense that there is literally no assembly required. Plug in the power adapter and construct your filament holder that is provided. That’s it. The printer comes with a quick-start guide, an extra 0.4mm nozzle, a filament holder, some starter filament, a power adapter, USB cable, Micro SD card, and a small bag of various tools. I wish the printer would have come with a Micro SD to SD Adapter, just in case you were going to print from the Micro SD Card. That did not prove to be an issue, as I found it was much nicer to print straight from my laptop, connected via the USB.I downloaded the E180 User Manual straight from Geeetech’s website, and that proved to be the most valuable tool during my assembly, power-up, and troubleshooting. The included Quick-Start guide is useful, but the User Manual is 42 pages and has step-by-step procedures, parameter setting, and even troubleshooting. The User Manual is a must if you purchase this printer. Thankfully, Geeetech spent some time on this User Manual and included many in-depth steps, as well as pictures. At this price point, I would not have expected a company to have such valuable tools for a budget product, but fortunately for myself and other 3D Printing novices, Geeetech spent time to develop such useful tools.I also downloaded Geeetech’s EasyPrint 3D slicing software, and that proved just as easy to use as their printer. It is far easier to manipulate the printer’s settings in the EasyPrint 3D Software, with a few clicks of your mouse. It allows you to change all settings, from extruder temperature, retraction distance and speed, infill %, layer heights, etc. These settings can easily be adjusted from the on-board touchscreen, but I found it was easier to just my computer mouse, as I was already in the EasyPrint 3D software for my file slicing. With a print bed of 130mm x 130mm x 130mm, this is not a large printer by any means. I printed many small pieces, just to get a feeling for how resolute and detailed this printer is capable of. I was not disappointed. I printed a small boat (3D Benchy) which is apparently used throughout the 3D Printing world to see how capable a printer is. This printer nailed it! I also printed some small buildings, some astronauts, and a larger, boomerang-shaped book holder. For some reason the pictures are blurry, so I apologize for not being able to truly showcase the printer’s beautiful printing capabilities to their fullest! My favorite feature of the printer is probably the easy-to-use, 3.2” touchscreen. Again, this is my first 3D Printer, but from what I have seen out on the market, the touchscreen is not very common. Most use an LCD screen with some sort of selector knob. I think the touchscreen makes this printer both sleek, as well as functional for a novice. The screen is bright and colored, and is very simplistic in design, and still gives you access to all of the necessary printer settings. The printer is very aesthetically pleasing, and would not look out of place at all if you did put it on your desk in an office. Most of the other printers look intimidating just by sheer fact that they’re very industrial looking. Exposed wires, belts, ball screws, etc. This printer only exposes the components that you would need to mess with, ideally. I could change out the extruder in about 10 minutes, and be back up and running in no time. I did not have to change the extruder for any reason, but I did so out of morbid curiosity. It proved to be no problem at all; all tools needed were included.I have read many reviews of this printer (prior to purchasing), and I noticed a lot of people complaining about layer shifts, stringy prints, mid-print stopping, nozzle clogs, etc. I followed the User Manual and Quick Start Guide instructions, to a T. I leveled the bed according to the instructions, set my extruder temperature accordingly, etc. I did everything according to the instructions, and had not one problem. I had no idea what I was doing, so I had no choice other than to read the instructions, but I am glad in this case. I honestly believe that I avoided many problems just by reading the instructions from the User Manual that I downloaded. I think 3D Printing requires some trial and error, and can be finicky, but I think a lot of people create their own problems unnecessarily due to not following the instructions specific to that printer. All things considered, I think this printer is a MUST buy if you are looking for an easy-to-use, compact, budget-friendly printer. For the price, it is hard to find a comparable printer that has all of the functionality, ease-of-use, customer support (online forums, emails, etc.), documentation, and replacement parts (if needed). I have had a great experience with my little E180, and would highly recommend this 3D Printer to anyone looking for a great printer, at a great cost.
