Q: I need an ankle sleeve that says active pain relief not recovery .. Please clarify thank you

My son wears this as well as one for the knee for active pain relief. He wears it day and night at times. He has worn after an ankle injury but also ongoing for pain. He loves his knee sleeve too!

Q: I got the medium/large one but it feels like its not snug like a regular brace. Is this ok? Or should I get a smaller size?

It should feels like wearing a sock, its not meant to sung tightly.

Q: How thick is this? In addition to support, I need cushioning to protect against surface contact with my injury.

I don't entirely understand the question. In terms of thickness, I don't tighten my tie shoes as much and use a different hole on my Mary Jane shoes' strap. I love this brace but don't know that it'll offer cushioning for an injury. It offers compression & support for an arthritic ankle!?
