Longevity
It’s a bit early to comment so will it still work in a years time? However it is fine at present and working well.

A reasonably good design spoiled by poor execution/QA in production.
I very carefully followed the instructions relating to the screwing down of the pool thermometer top in to its case and ensured the arrow had passed the index mark as directed. I then placed the thermometer in my fish pond. The temperature indicated on the sensor and display matched and was of a value close to that expected. The Outside Air Temperature (OAT) was +6.3 and the pond +6.6 °C. The results displayed over the next day and a half were both sensible and acceptable and as the air temperature dropped so did the value shown for the pond. The lowest value it reached was +5.5°C before things went wrong. On the morning of the third day the water temperature was showing as 11.1°C whilst the air was -1°C. The expected value should have been +5°C or slightly less. The pond thermometer continued to show this ridiculous value for the next 24 hours. I decided to remove the pond thermometer and take out the batteries to see if that would reset the displayed value. I had great difficulty in getting the top unscrewed and had to fit rubber bands to the body and top to get sufficient grip to release the electronics. This is when I found that, in spite of being properly assembled, water had entered the device. I can only assume that because the device was assembled in a warm room the lower water temperature had also lowered the pressure inside the case and that water had been sucked in. On examining the case I noticed that there were two molding "creases" (<=0.3mm) on the surface onto which the 'O'-ring seats. These "creases" were visible continuing across the thread path as well. This does mean that although the sensor body (top) is tightly screwed to the case, so that plastic meets plastic, there is still a chance that the 'O'-ring is not fully watertight. This is a design flaw!I have, since, dried out the sensor and display and the unit is currently reading 0.8° high of true when tested against a calibrated thermometer. I will pack the 'O'-ring groove and contact surfaces with silicone grease before screwing it back together and see if that fixes the flaw. For what is an expensive product its "failure" due to such a simple production defect is extremely disappointing. In addition, the radio range of this unit is significantly poorer than the additional thermometer which is provided as part of the kit. My pond is barely 8 metres from the receiver and only one wall separates them. A more suitable antenna for the transmitter is required if this device is to prove usable for outdoors applications.02 Dec. 2017 - UPDATEI applied silicone grease to the 'O'-ring channel, contact surface and threaded area. The thermometer worked until today. Outside air temperatures have been down to -5.5 recently. Currently it is +3.2 but the pond value is 12.3!! Clearly, water has got inside again. This device is defective and will be returned to Amazon. TFA Dostmann need to look at their production standards or the design of the casing.

This product is certainly not up to scratch. The readout panel is great. Easy to use and set to your personal specifications. The big problem is the out door floating thermometer. After 1 month it sprung a leak and flooded with water and is now dead and it seems like it cant be replaced. This means you need to buy the whole package again!!!! This seems to be the weakness as there is no way to return it.....

This is a great idea & perfect for conservatory & hot-tub
This is a great idea & perfect for conservatory & hot-tub. It has worked well for 2-months but the pool sensor will not pair with the receiver.although the sensor displays the correct temperature, despite replacing the batteries in the sensor & base unit & doing factory reset.Really like it, may buy a replacement pool sensor.

Works well, but only 25m range on pool sensor
We have had this for a couple of months now and the pool thermometer is fairly accurate, unlike others we have had. Fairly easy to set up if you follow the instructions, although they could be easier as it is a single multi folded sheet and the English instructions are spread all over the sheet. The radio controlled clock is set to German time, but this can be altered to your own time zone by using the +/- 0, 1,2 etc time zone feature. My only gripe would be that it is sold as a pool/pond thermometer with up to 100m range. However, the instructions make it clear that the pond thermometer maximum range is only 25m. Ours is just under 23m from the house and reception drops in and out, although this seems to be improving greatly as the temperature rises. The additional sensor is useful for outside air temperature and you can see min/max temperatures for all the sensors. This is the best pond sensor we have found so far.and if your pond/pool is within the range limits it works very well.

Works just as described. Remote sensor for Pool works well where a previous one regularly lost connection.

Pool Thermometer Gets Moisture inside and fails
Unfortunately this is the second of these units that we have purchased. This time the pool thermometer failed again in late August despite being taken out of the water for 4 months while we were away due to the Coronovirus. The previous version lasted a year which is still unacceptable. I would very much like to be able to contact the supplier to see if we can obtain a replacement unit. The internal and external temperature gauges work very well, hence the 2 stars.
