This is really excellent and I wish I had known these were available earlier. Works great. I noticed that someone has said that it appears 'faulty, as new batteries were showing dead...'. Well this is button cells for you! The Swiss ones (Renata) are good as they are generally dependable and used by professional watch people, but the cheap ones are very hit and miss - especially the end-of-aisle pound shop multipacks that we've all bought. Holding them in your hand it's impossible to tell if they're good or bad, charged or duds. I went through a load of button cells which were fairly new (a few months old) and this little gadget quickly showed that 60% of them were either low powered or dead: in the battery recycling bin! An absolute little gem of a tester, and worth every penny. Trust the unit and be prepared to bin a lot of dead cells! If you have a load of watches and are sick of constantly replacing dead batteries, this thing is a game changer. Much easier to use than the bigger AA/AAA/PP3 testers that you can just about test a button cell on.

When I used this Ansmann button cell battery tester straight after delivery - and after confirming that the battery powering the Ansmann, itself, was fully charged - I found that it showed most batteries as being in need of replacement, even though many of those I tried were unused and straight from a new, in-date pack. Even new batteries that I had confirmed were fully charged by using two testing devices from different manufacturers, showed on the Ansmann as being on the verge of needing replacement, for example with two red lights and one yellow!

Fantastic great for checking button battery's before I install

Weird that a battery tester has to use its own battery plus the battery to be tested to work. I had to return my first order because it didn't work at all. I got a replacement for the seller and the Ansmann battery supplied with it was dead. Once I inserted a third-party CR1620, it worked. A shame because I'm sure the price of the product takes into account the included battery. I wish it was cheaper on that basis but I can't complain if it works.

What I liked was the quality of the item and the ability to check batteries of different sizes. And the light indication with different smileys showing from sad to okay to happy. No buzz or bleeping just lights from bad to good. It's a item worth having so you know that your gadget with the battery is will work or the other doing a diagnosis check when you're gadget has stopped working and you need to find out if it's the battery or has your gadget died. Overall a house hold tool to have when you need to know why you're items have suddenly stopped working.
