Cuts straight
I purchased this to replace another item which I was not happy about the blade was bending when cutting so it wasn't straight. This 1 is brilliant the blade cuts without bowing away from the counter blade it has good safety features light weight but very sturdy

Fab cutter
Great cutter. Be careful with blade though. It’s extremely sharp as I found out to my cost! It does cut accurately

After 8 months of use I am well placed to comment on this guillotine...
Having purchased this 8 months back I have had much time be certain that whomever made this guiltoine has obviously never spent time using it as it is such a piece of c%ap. Where do I start... the plastic paper holder is mis-aligned to the blade so it is hit and miss as to whether ones eye-ball compensation is going to result in the cut being correct. The arm has no means to be tightened... needless to say it is now loose so if, unlike me, you have 3 arms this will not be a problem as you will be able to use your third arm to hold the blade up while you use your other two to position the page. The nice looking wooden deck is not flush with the metal edge so getting a decent cut everytime is not assured.

Excellent for my needs.
This is a rather specialist review as it deals with cutting 2mm card. I use this for making slip cases for books and decided that a guillotine would make the job quicker and easier. It did. What I found cutting by hand was that I often did not get a 90 degree angle along the edge (Simply because I did not seem to able to hold the knife at a consistent angle). This produces much better results and there is less fiddling about trying to get a good join. Additionally it is far easier to take a sliver off the card than it is by hand. Accuracy is easier to maintain.I agree with the criticism that using the blade and straight edge of the machine does produce errors but as I mark out the card it is easy to cut to the line by lining the marks up with the edge of the cutting plate.I can confirm that the blade is very sharp. I managed to cut myself on it . You have been warned.

Sturdy and sharp
A good weight (not too heavy to manoeuvre but heavy enough to stay in place while cutting) & sharp. Cuts cleanly through multiple pages and cardboard.Safety lock is sturdy so won’t accidentally slip when moving.About 1 cm too small if you’re planing to cut a full a3 lengthways but great for smaller sizes. Can cut a signature of 10 (ie 20 pages) but I doubt you’d get anything thicker under the guardGrids not perfect (about 1mm off from the top and bottom) but accurate enough for a home project. Just be sure to have something consistent to line a signature against if you’re using this for bookbinding.Clearly a return as box has obviously been opened before but I can’t see anything wrong with the product

Perfect for vinyl
Wanted a guillotine that would be sharp enough to cut heat transfer vinyl not just paper - this one did the trick! Read reviews about the measurements being off by a few mm - I didn't check this out as it doesn't really affect me as I cut vinyl in a straight line and a little more than I usually need so sharpness over complete accuracy was my main concern. The plastic guard is stationary so I couldn't move it, so had to feed the vinyl through it - which was fine for me. Very sturdy board and a solid guillotine - definitely handle with care! For all those t-shirt makers who need something quick and sharp that can cut through vinyl - this guillotine will do it. :-)

Cuts Great
Have just taken delivery and immediately tried to cut 28 sheets of 75gsm paper +2 sheets of200gsm card (2,500 gsm (against the stated ability of 30 sheets of 80gsm paper (2,400 in total)). So, 100 gsm more than the stated ability. It did a great job. And, just to confirm, the 12" guillotine is fine for A4 paper.

Unimpressed
I bought the guillotine to use for my business it's sole use was for paper and card cutting. From the first evening using it I had problems when the paper was folded double it snagged and didn't make a complete cut (see picture) and we are only talking standard 120 gsm folded double. As for cutting seed card it tended to drag a bit at the end of the cut leaving a rough edge. Considering the sharpness of the blade (numerous cuts to my hands) I was surprised how poorly it cut paper, I tended to have to pull the arm slightly over towards the table when cutting to make a clean cut, also the arm became very stiff because of this. After 10 days enough is enough and it's been returned. As for accuracy as others have mentioned like lots of other cutters it is not square (to be honest though I haven't found one yet that is) which you would think would be a basic requirement of a guillotine. I have now ordered a different one from Amazon and hope it is better than this.
