I can hear again!
So this little guy saved my life! - I haven't tried other units like this - but I did some research and this one came out on top for me. I currently have a lingering sinus infection which has beautifully shut off both my eustachian tubes making me only able to hear mumbled noise. I've lost perhaps 80% of my hearing... until I get some kind of fun treatment at the E.N.T. clinic in a couple of weeks time. So.... the reason I describe this for you is that it shows that I'm not really in the market for an expensive hearing aid just yet since my hearing is highly likely to recover in a few weeks. But that's still a long time to wait... and I can't hear normal conversation at all. I went to a funeral the other day and sat next to a bunch of old codgers.... and they heard the whole service.... whereas I picked up a few words.... so I definitely had to do something! When this arrived, I immediately used it with my Bose noise cancelling headphones - and that's a pretty good idea to reduce background noise (coz the LH10 won't do this for you) - but actually, I was also pretty happy for the reasonably cheap but functional ear buds that ship with this too - I wore them in (just one) ear for several hours yesterday and they totally did the job. When I plucked it out at the end of the day, it left the white bud in my ear canal... so that was fun. I've adjusted how I hold it when plucking now! If you're not used to using things like this then you should know that you get ambient noise (of course) which is also non-directional. This includes rustling of clothes and lots of clattering etc. Worth putting up if you can actually hear and understand people talking though. The quality of the signal is totally fit for purpose and the omni-directional nature of the in-built mic is good. I would have loved to find an external mic for this so that I could pin it to my lapel.... there is a TV mic accessory which I haven't looked into. I do have a tiny wired condenser mic somewhere in the house I might try - if I find it... and if it's cool, I'll update the review here... I think you need a 2.5mm plug for it though. I think the target audience here is the 'aged' or general 'hard of hearing' amongst us... especially if you want to augment your current hearing aid.... watch TV without subtitles... that sort of thing. But for me, as a 51 year old hearing person... with a condition... this is a winner device! When my hearing recovers, I'll keep this in a box for when things change for me again. Maybe try the induction loop assist element to this next time. Having the tone option (and LR balance) hidden underneath the battery cover was a little odd I thought... but actually, I played with the tone (which you have to do on a pot with a watch screwdriver - not supplied... by the way), and it didn't really make a lot of difference I thought. It was hardly a way to select optimum frequencies anyway.... perhaps useful if you're only going to use this for the TV or something and want to optimise one environment. Basically, it's a little pointless I thought.... perhaps I just couldn't hear the difference since I'm deaf! Having a bluetooth option would have been SO good. But hey. The only reason I didn't give this five stars was the plastic belt clip. This is cheap and substandard. The thing is - I'm off to meetings... I'm flying to Rome next week... I was at an event yesterday....and I have to wear this as I walk around at chest height - adjusting the volume frequently. The term 'belt clip' immediately shows a small conflict of ergonomic positioning. Having a thing like this on your belt would not really work too good. It made me think of 'Mrs. Richards' in the famous Faulty Towers episode 'Communication Problems' you're bound to know it! It was the best of all of them that one! - Anyway, this is why I was interested in a clip on external omni-mic - so I could hide the rest of the device. And actually a volume control on the headphone cable would be good for this purpose too.... it's just isn't quite set up for the active person who needs to wear this out and about. That said, I've made it work for me. I attached a clip to the lanyard grooves and now I march around with this thing dangling off my chest everywhere I go - inside and out. it's a little ungainly - but I can hear what people are saying to me! Worth it! By the way, tiny lanyard grooves are supplied... lanyard is not. £50 is a good price for this I guess... but guys... come on! - It's just a lanyard! The rechargeable battery seems to last a good long time... not exhausted it yet to see... but there's an easy option to swap out for AAA batteries too - so this is well thought out. I'll be carrying spare batts with me to the airport just in case! - You 'can' use it whilst it's charging by the way.... but you'll prob get a mains-loop type hum thrown into the mix if you do. the device has a mini-USB socket for in-unit charging and a standard mini-usb to standard USB cable is supplied (no plug though - which is becoming normal now for things like this).

Excellent
The only equipment my elderly dad can hear with! Excellent purchase and easy to use. The fact it is portable is great.

Bought 2 of these devices. On both oaacsions, fell to the floor and both ocasions the jackport disappeared from the inside so unable to use to make things heard Very expesnisve waste of of money as it leaves me unable to hear anything

Not great, not bad
It is ok, my old mum can't use in ear headphones, ear gets infected, and for same reason can't use hearing aids all day. this is ok, used with over ear headphones (not included obviously) - not amazing but means she can hear conversation when can't use hearing aids. For this price, worth a go. Would be nice if external mc was included, and it isn't made clear you need to connect a very fiddly little connector inside the battery compartment before they work, was going to return them as not working before i noticed it, instruction manual doesn't mention it. Certainly a lot better than nothing.

Sound Amplifier
My husband wears hearing aids, but still needed the volume on the tv turned up really high. This was really uncomfortable for anyone else in the room. I bought these amplifiers, just on the off chance that they might work. I’m delighted to say that for him they’ve worked a treat. Would definitely recommend….

quick delivery and it's a great product. Works really really well
Well packed, quick delivery and it's a great product. Works really really well, lasting over a month now on AAA batteries, the rechargable batter not yet tried, my fater (whom this was purchased for) does not have a USB micro charger so another purchase down the line. Would recommend for amplifying the TV.

Very Good item for my Problem, Happy Wife Happy Life !!!.
Very good item and well made, seems to be OK for my problem, I purchased this because my wife kept saying I have the TV on to loud. So she sets her volume on the TV for her, and set the volume on the Device me. It's OK I think I can live with it it, But it does sound better I think with my Sony over the ear headphones rather than using the small headphones supplied with the Device.

This device did not work very well at all. Bought it for my mother in-law who has hearing problems. It was very echoy and 2 others with good hearing tried it out to confirm the echo problem. Had better quality with a less expensive device. We will try something else
