Outstanding little device that provides smooth resistance and has a reliable and easy-to-use app
The Unitrree Pump Pro provides smooth, easy-to-change resistance in an easy-to-use, well-made, relatively inexpensive device. It's also compact, lightweight and looks cool. I think it's great as a supplement to, or replacement for, elastic bands if you prefer resistance you can set precisely and that can remain constant throughout the entire range of motion (rather than starting out low at the beginning and getting higher as you stretch the band). Like bands, you can also use it while traveling. It's also good as a stop-gap if you would like a full-fledged magnetic-resistance functional trainer like Tonal or Vitruvian but are waiting for the next generation of products with lower prices when competition increases. I use the device primarily for rehab/prehab upper-body exercises like external shoulder rotations, shoulder raises and wood chops that are somewhat awkward to do with free weights. It also works well for curls and other exercises that don't require more than its 44 lb. of resistance. I'm very impressed at how well it works for these. However, it's not a replacement for a room-full of free weights (I still use those) or a functional trainer. If that's what you expect, you may be disappointed. The key feature for me is quality of resistance. The resistance is quite smooth though not quite as smooth as a Tonal, as I recall from doing a demo on the Tonal more than a year ago. It's constant resistance (with a few modes that change that) like Tonal or other magnetic-resistance machines and doesn't have the inertial acceleration of free weights. I prefer the feel of free weights but have gotten used to constant resistance and find it very effective at increasing strength. Constant resistance also provides more resistance than free weights due to the lack of inertia, so 44 lbs. on this device feels like more than 44 lbs. of resistance from free weights (presumably due to more time under tension at full resistance). The device makes a whirring sound when the pull-strap moves in an out, similar to some rowing machines. It's not particularly loud and doesn't block out music or TV sound, but I find that it detracts a bit from the exercise experience, though not enough to be a show-stopper. The other thing I found slightly annoying was that you have this somewhat heavy 1.5 lb. device hanging from a strap while you exercise. It doesn't impair functionality but, like the whirring sound, I think it does detract a bit from the exercise experience. It would be nice if there was a cage that allowed you to mount it firmly on a power rack or wall without the use of an anchor strap. A second key feature is ease of use. The device is very easy to use. It turns on with either a double press of the on button or a quick pull of the handle. It requires a phone app to change weight and access other controls. I would have preferred the controls to be on the device itself or on a dedicated remote control. However, the iPhone app was easy to set up, pair to the device, and use. Changing weight requires waking your phone (if it's gone to sleep) and moving a slider--a few seconds including the time to get to your phone if it's not next to you while you're exercising. The quality of the device and accessories is outstanding. The device itself feels solid and looks like it was designed in a high-end design studio. The thought that went into design details and functionality is particularly impressive. You can anchor the device with a door anchor or loop anchor that fits over a pole or peg or chair leg (both included) or a suction cup (not included). They all attach using a twist-on rod that's quick and easy to use and much neater than a D-ring and carabiner. The included 30mm (1.2 inch) diameter silicone-wrapped ribbed handle with nylon straps is the best strap-type handle I've used apart from knurled steel ones. I won't detail all the thoughtful design choices that went into the device but I'll give one small, surprising and impressive example. When I first got the device I went to charge it and noticed that it had a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. My usual charger for miscellaneous devices like this is a USB-A charger, so I started trying to remember where I had left the USB-C to USB-C charger for my iPad. Then I looked at the cable more closely and noticed that it was actually a USB-C to USB-A cord to which they had thoughtfully added a USB-A to USB-C adapter. Think about how many times you have used products where the manufacturer put thought into a little detail like that that when it wasn't a selling point and would only make the user's life easier. They actually spent money to do that instead of cutting corners by reducing quality or features to reduce manufacturing costs.

Surprisingly awesome
Pretty decent little tool for a good workout in a pinch or quick pump. Would be great if it offered a higher weight but still cool. 4 stars only because of the lack of lock in anchor options. I just want a simple carabiner lock I can hook up to an anchor point.

Honest Review. Time wasted
Here is an honest review. I purchased this item multiple times. 1st time item was advertised as new, came sealed in box, but had mileage on it, quite a bit. When you connect the device it shows how much the device has been used. Returned and purchased the item again, this time; item box advertised as new came taped not sealed, and once again had some mileage on it, not as much as the first one, but, was making a sound that sounded loud and defective vs the first one. Then again bought it a third and final time, item usage was exponentially recording usage. 5 minutes of workout was being recorded at something like 140 minutes! Reached out to support, but a good week plus later without resolution I decided I wasn’t going to get a resolution. I wasn’t expecting the kind of resistance from such a small device and I’m actually quite bummed out that I had to return it. 250 bucks is not a small amount of money, bought item brand new, one should get what they pay for and not make compromises. They made a great product, but they have a long way to go on the software, calibration, and product problem resolution. Hopefully in the future they can fix these problems.

Expensive but possibly worth it
First off, this feels more than 44lbs of resistance, and the convenience and versatality of it is incredible, especially if you travel, it's somewhat necessary to buy two if your more intermediate with El giminisaso.

After a year, it's a regret!
After having this for almost a year now, and actually spending my own money for it, it's time for an honest review. If I were to review the unit alone, my review might be better. But, with this unit comes the REQUIREMENT to install and use the app. With that in mind, I think it's imperative that the app, and its function be included within the review. The unit alone is pretty decent. The unit is solidly built, seems of good quality and has the capability of providing good, smooth and consistent resistance. The attachments are pretty standard, decent quality and self explanatory. On the unit itself, one gripe I have is the goofy little plastic clip used as a safety at the attachment point. Not only is it inconvenient to use, its awkward and cheap. Seems like a last minute " we need" design flaw fix. It's a cheap piece of plastic that seems out of place on an otherwise, well designed machine. I also don't like that there is no "stopper" of sorts on the strap. Upon retracting, the machine retracts the strap until it is stopped by the attachment clip on the end. And if using higher loads, this retraction can be quick and with some force. The carabeener clip seems small for its purpose, and should something break, the strap will be sucked into the machine with no stopping it. Just seems like another design flaw that should be corrected. Other than that, no real complaints with the machine itself. It is a bit heavy for its size, but is certainly compact enough to carry with you. As far as its use, the machine is certainly not quiet when in use, but it's certainly not loud and obnoxious either. Sounds like, and is, an electrical magnet and motor. It is usable in a hotel room without bothering neighbors but might wake sleeping babies if used next to the crib. It operates smoothly and seems to respond well to weight adjustments. I do feel differences in modes and eccentric vs concentric works well. Sounds like a great unit, right? Well, as I've mentioned, this unit REQUIRES the use of the Fitness Pump app, and this is what drags this machine down from a potential "goto workout", to a "leave it in the closet" machine! The horrible, or "lack of effort" made in the creation and usefulness of the app completely ruins the potential greatness in this machine. You MUST use the app to control this machine. Without the app and a solid BT connection to the machine, it is nearly unusable. The resistance weight, the mode, the data, the history, the counters and such, all controlled within the app. There is one single touch sensitive button on the machine. It controls power, and nothing more. Within the app, and only within the app, is where the user can control or adjust the machine. This is also where what little data there is to see, will be seen. For some machines, this would be ok, but for this machine, considering the app is significantly flawed, turns out to be a big problem. Keep in mind, to even open the app, you MUST be connected to the machine. Without a solid connection to the machine, you can't even get into to see past efforts. Curious about how much weight you lifted yesterday and want to check? You can't just open the app and see, you have to connect to the machine! Everything is locked behind the app, even the simple aspects of seeing a particular result. It is a free app, and thankfully so, because that's what it's worth. Again here, in some cases would be ok I guess, but the app is exceptionally unstable in its ability to connect. I am often presented with connection errors from my brand new phone is "running an outdated BT", or that the pump "needs to be connected first", etc. etc. I, as the user, am often struggling just to get connected to my machine. Once connected to the machine, and the app opens, the user is presented with a generic app which really presents no viable or useful information at all. The app is focused on presenting graphical images and data boxes which are completely static and allow no interface or expansion at all. And to compound aggravations, most of the data boxes show inaccurate data. The app continues to struggle with even recognizing what day it is! A workout one does today, is shown in a generic graph as a workout done yesterday. A simple task in which most simplistic apps handle reliably, Fitness Pump fails consistently. The app presents itself in 3 or 4 basic pages, the current workout which measures reps, cals and distance. The settings page, which adjust weight and mode of the machine, and a history page which doesn't work. Regardless of your history choice of today, 7 or 30 days, you are presented with a 7 day period showing a cumulative total for calories. That's it, that's your history. No history of reps or weights for Wed, or last Tuesday, nothing. No breakdown record of workout history is available to the user. The app apparently keeps track of cumulative totals, but thats it. The app will determine a total weight lifted of 5000lbs, but will not recognize when or how it tabulated those numbers. The "here and now" is all the app will essentially provide. If you're looking to see, compare, set goals, review workouts and routines, this app won't help you. All this app is really capable of doing, is counting your current set of reps. Fancy graphics with no interface, data boxes that don't hold data, and workouts that may, or may not have been done last week? The app fails in all respects. Its sad, but due to the appalling performance and functionality of the app, the Unitree Pump falls well below that of average fitness equipment. An item built and designed for fitness, should certainly be prepared and able to provide their users with relevant and useful functions and information to complete, or at least see, their efforts. For those of you on the fence, or considering purchase of the Unitree Pump, I would strongly consider holding off until the app itself, and its associated rating, climbs significantly in customer satisfaction. This is not a cheap investment, and one that may certainly be a disappointment in its current state. Much needs to be improved for this to be a wise, or worth while investment.

Lifting this is exercise
It’s solid. But too heavy to be considered portable. Cant say much about the function , as I returned mine

Work out in a box and on the Go!
This is GREAT for anyone wanting to get a good work out but doesn't want to spend a fortune and space on a full "gym" or set of weights. EVEN BETTER is this work out is all in a box with a carry bag which makes this kit perfect for the traveler. Never miss a work out. This convenience is also what makes it easy to use this box anywhere. I have used this on my work out bench, living room using my feet to hold the anchor strap, my backyard, anywhere you can place the anchors and you are set. There is door anchor that is placed between the door and the door frame too that helps in that versatility and a strap anchor to be held by your feet or wrapped around a sturdy furniture leg or the like. You can use this with or without the AP. BUT you REALLY NEED THE AP to get the most use of this kit. Without the AP you are just wasting your money, just use the AP it is FREE (i.e. "included" with the box, you just need to download it). The AP is what makes this work out kit ROCK! With the AP > - You can free style your own work out and adjust the "weight" (resistances) from about 4lbs up to 44lbs. - Select a work out zone (upper body, Abs, butt, legs) under "plan" from beginner to advance, a 7 day weight lost program, and you can create custom work out plans too. It has a video showing how to perform the each exercise. - There is a door and a strap anchor included along with a comfortable ankle strap and a pull strap. All good quality and strong straps. Easy to hook them up and switch them out as needed. - The resistances is spot on, I have been using this working a different zone each day (allowing the worked out zone to recoup and rest at least a day) and my muscles are feeling it. The work outs are simple and short (about 20 minutes) to get you started. You can lengthen the work out as you need. - the AP makes working out motivating and fun. Even my 8 year old daughter is jumping into the fun, which brings up the next cool thing.... -The resistance is pre-set per each work out program and exercise, so as you get tired the resistance does not get easier. BUT you can CHANGE the workout level resistance level before you begin. So if work out is too hard or easy just select level and adjust the percentage, so harder for me and easier for my 8 year old but still a good work out for both of us. The AP will remember your last setting. - The video will automatically stop/pause and start with your work out. If you take too long to start the next exercise the video will pause, to restart just pull the cord or push play on the AP and the video and counting will continue. - You can skip or replay an exercise if needed by scrolling and then selecting the next exercise on the work out menu. - Don't want a full work out plan then you can customize your own work out actions from the custom plan tab under the Plan menu. Select an action and then you can edit the action adding weight and/or reps. - The AP will count you reps! No more lost counts or need to count. Overall I would give this 10 stars if possible I am loving this kit! This is a must for anyone wanting to get a good work out. And specially for someone like me that needs a some motivation and simple and effective time efficient work outs. Highly recommend!!! And if you are still not sure, you can always download the AP before you buy this box to see the possibility.

Worth it
Easy to setup. Easy to configure. The feeling of cable is not the same as what we have in gym with real weight but does it job. A little unstable when weight is low (under 3kg)

Very Impressed
As a member of a gym, I find this little box fantastic. It feels almost identical to a pull machine and I’m extremely happy to have a portable gym at home for my 20 minute daily work out. I only need to visit the public gym once or twice a week which is always a bonus.

It works!
Actually great. I was a little sceptical as so much new fangled fitness equipment is junk but as this was strangely made by the company that makes the robot dog so I was intrigued, it appears to be because of their expertise to electric motors. It gives you a real pump and it’s very finely grained. Really tiny and light. You could bring it to work and do bicep curls at lunch. Little pricey but cheaper than a whole bunch of dumbells.
