So far, so good
We bought this after returning the Eufy lock. This one was easy to install and works great. We've been using it for a couple of months now and no complaints.

Do not get this overpriced product
Terrible overpriced product. Couldn't setup it up with my phone so it's basically useless overpriced lock that only comes with one key. Terrible inattentive customer service, I had to repeat myself many times on the phone because he wasn't listening/paying attention. Customer service also told me it's a known issue that the lock has trouble connecting to the latest apple and android phones, so the only thing he could do is get the phone model and let their team know so maybe it can maybe be fixed with the next update. It's not functional, the app is super slow and glitchy says it's connected when it's not, continously shows me blank screens in the app and it's unable to reset correctly. The solution to no connection is "log out, close app, log back in" i did that so many times that i lost count during the call with customer service, only to be told "oh the app is not working correctly, there is a glitch, did you do it right, do it again" Unfortunately it's outside of the return period or I would have returned it. Highly do not recommend.

Entry level Yale Assure 2 lock, works well, key backup
Wow, there sure are a lot of versions of the Yale Assure 2! I've tested two of them; I previously reviewed the Assure 2 Plus with Apple Homekit support, and now I'm reviewing this entry-level one at a substantially lower price point. When shopping for one of these locks, it might be helpful to start on Yale's web site - it makes the options a lot clearer than the various listings here do. You basically need to decide: - What kind of connectivity do you want? You can choose Bluetooth only (so you have to be physically present near the lock to update it) or Wi-Fi (so you can add/remove codes and lock/unlock remotely - mostly useful for AirBnB owners). - Do you want a key or no key? No key is probably 'more secure' because you're not vulnerable to lockpicking, but it means you really should have an analog Plan B elsewhere in your house to let you in if the lock fails. - Do you want touchscreen or physical buttons? The touchscreen works well and is more elegant, so I'd advise against the physical buttons unless you just really want that aesthetic for some reason or are very cost conscious. - Do you need fingerprint support for unlocking with your finger, or Apple Home Key support for unlocking with your iPhone/Apple Watch? If so, you can only choose one of those features. Phew! That's a lot! So the lock I'm reviewing here is the Bluetooth-only, keyed, touchscreen, no fancy unlock features version. That makes it a great choice for a busy family that occasionally invites guests or home cleaners to use their lock, but not ideal for something like a rental property because you can't add, revoke or maintain access codes remotely. One nice thing about the Yale locks is that you can upgrade them later to Wi-Fi support by adding a module in the battery compartment, so if you can't quite make up your mind now, you can always retrofit Wi-Fi later. It's kinda pricey and a proprietary module, though. Installation of these is great - substantially better than installing the competing Level lock, which involved whittling down my door. The process is very similar for all of the various variants, and the app helpfully walks you through the various steps. Unlike other locks like the Level, this should fit your existing door and doorframe without any modification as its size and shape exactly matches most existing lock sets. The app is.. not bad! It's pretty intuitive to update the lock codes, and you can easily set up recurring limited access, auto lock features and such. I much prefer the convenience of the HomeKit enabled version, because I can simply tap my phone to the lock for secure opening through NFC, but PIN codes aren't too bad to use. I really like that the touchscreen is obscured by default - I was worried this would look ostentatiously electronic from the street, but the dark appearance by default really blends in. As I said above, I wouldn't recommend the buttons-only version as I don't think the aesthetics are as good. I think the Assure 2 is probably the best all-around smart lock available right now, but there are a lot of decisions to be made when shopping. If you get a better sense for what your goals are, the choice may become clearer. Remote monitoring and easiest unlock? Get the plus; simple code-based access for family and friends? This version is sufficient.

Works great, DRAINS batteries quick
I love the functionality of it. I can unlock it from my phone from any where. With the model I purchased you have to buy the WiFi module separately. Easy installation and setup. My ONLY issue is that it drains batteries so fast. I’ve had to replace the batteries twice in one month. And with 4 batteries, it hurts the pockets a bit. I’ve bought rechargeable batteries to alleviate this but for the cost I really shouldn’t have too. Worth the money but buy yourself rechargeable batteries to save you from the constant frustration of buying new batteries.

Security in a more user friendly package
Yale has been a trusted name in security for a long time - and for good reason, since they make locks that are secure, tough to defeat and easy to live with all at the same time (which is much easier said than done)! This lock is another great example of that. In a deadbolt form factor - and using deadbolt mounting holes, which is key since you don’t have to drill new holes (ha, pun intended) - it allows you to add a very secure deadbolt that can also be unlocked with code or a secure bluetooth key. And if you’re worried about someone “hacking” your lock remotely don’t be - this lock doesn’t have Wi-Fi built in (though you can add that, if you choose, with teh sold separately Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module). You can create both permanent and temporary keys (using either passcodes or bluetooth keys that can be distributed and tracked in the app) - which are great for guests or if you need to allow someone time limited acccess to your home. The installation couldn’t be much easier (presuming you’ve installed a lock or a doorknob before - which isn’t hard itself - you can easily install this in a few minutes with basic tools IF the door / doorframe are pre-drilled for a deadbolt….otherwise it might take a bit longer) and setting up the app is quick and easy. You can also use auto-unlock features which work based on proximity of your phone to the door (something like the auto-unlock on car doors, but this is entirely hands free) and auto-lock which is a nice feature that uses a sensor to determine if the door is closed and then locks after a set period of time. All in all, this is a great lock from a great company - it provides security and peace of mind while allowing easy access to you and those you want to have access. Oh, and it’s easy to install and looks nice to boot. So if that sounds good to you, give it a try today!

I love this lock and very easy to install, just one warning they will work on Canada and the USA only because they get activate by the Yale Access app

Ive bought several of these and what's strange is some come with the wifi module and others don't. You definitely need the wifi module in order to do any automation through certain software for the Airbnb automation. It's been working great for me and I'm using Hospitable to link everything through my Yale account. Works flawlessly and haven't had any issues at all.

Works fairly well, but it sometimes does not lock automatically, even though the door is perfectly closed. 95% of the time it locks, and once in awhile doesn't. This is very bad, because you can't really trust it. Other than that, very good lock. I will update once I go through winter. Oh, btw, KW10 keys work with this lock, but KW1 does not. Downgraded to 3 star, the auto-lock has completely stopped functioning. I have to manually ensure my door is locked, or it won't be.
