This is a collection of books that teaches you how to go off grid and thus become more independent. So, the 1st book focuses on that. The next shows you how it is possible in an urban area. I appreciated that later in the book the author shows how to go off grid on a smaller scale if you need it. This covers things like campers, RVs, caravans, etc. This could be so useful and really make you more independent, so I found that super helpful. the book teaches you all the equipment you will need as well as how to install everything. The book also covers maintenance and how to store (and later use) the solar energy. I learned a lot from this book and I think it was well written.

This is a well written, comprehensive guide to solar power. I you are planning any kind o solar energy product, this is a must first read.

This collection of 7 booklets is the most incredibly comprehensive guide imaginable to going off grid with solar power. It takes you from the first moment of wondering if off grid living is right for you and your family, to the end of the journey with your own off grid solar power system. It’s technical enough for an engineer, but is written clearly enough that a non-engineer can follow the directions and put together a system that works. It’s thought provoking, asking key questions to help determine whether off grid is best, or whether a hybrid lifestyle better fits your needs. This is the resource you need as you begin to build your off grid system.

If you plan on living off grid you need to choose your land, build small, produce electricity, have running water, etc. This book lists five states that are perfect for living off grid. I loved reading about the true stories of people who lives off grid. You can install your own solar power by using this book as a guide. Learn to design your own solar power system, installation, and the maintenance of your solar power. This book is full of everything you need to know to living off grid.

While some of the information in this book is correct there is ample that is not. There are factual errors about battery types and how to treat them for long life. For example, it says that partially discharging and then charging a lead acid battery shortens its life and causes sulfate crystals to form. It has been shown for many years that the maximum energy delivery of a lead acid battery is when it is discharged 50% then recharged. Discharging 100%, as recommended in the book, greatly shortens its life and lifetime energy delivery. Leaving a lead acid battery discharged is when the sulfate crystals form. There are other factual errors with respect to the various lithium-ion types of batteries, too. The author clearly does not understand the difference between and relationship of current, voltage, power, and energy. Some of the terms are used interchangeably when they are not interchangeable terms. There are other logical inconsistencies throughout the book like having proper diagrams but then claiming that a solar charge controller manages the discharge of the batteries. The author clearly does not understand what the efficiency of a solar panel means. He claims that a 400W rated solar panel with an efficiency of 25% will put out 100W. That is NOT what the efficiency value means. It means of all the solar energy hitting the solar panel that it is able to convert 25% of it to electricity. I could go on at length on this but I don’t think anyone came here for a physics lesson on solar energy, electricity, and battery chemistry. The author might be able to design and build a solar system but I would not rely on him to understand how and why it worked the way it does. There are much better sources of accurate information out there and I would not waste any time or money on this book.

These books are easy to read and makes installing solar power for your home easy as well and has plans to suit your needs.
