Astro Tools 78197 Goliath LARGE Ball Joint Service Tool and Master Adapter Set

This is a great ball joint press kit. It has everything you need to remove the most stubborn ball joint or u-joint. You just need to supply the impact gun. Pros: Large opening to take on large steering knuckle or u-joints. Large variety of tube and plate adapters for different sized parts. Nicely organized case. Very well built, heavy duty. Cons: Because it is heavy duty, it is heavy, so get help holding the different adapters in place. It can be done by one person but it is challenging. I used it on upper and lower ball joints and Dana 60 U-joints on a seasoned Ford F-350, and it was like they weren't there. It pushed them out with ease and I did not need a vice to hold them. If you have a big project, this is a great press kit. Make sure you have a good impact gun, air or electric. Picture has a quarter on the car for scale. The black oxide finish seems to help with rust prevention.

This kit is very strong and parts for it are very reasonable from the manufacturer. I used it on my 2500 Silverado ball joints and they were stubborn. The vice was large enough to fit and it's very strong. I did end up buying another cup from the manufacturer, needed 2 solid cups to get the proper clearance and strength. The large split cup wasn't strong enough and splayed out. Other than that, fantastic kit for the money.

Works good, very heavy duty. Not an exact fit for a 2000 gmc Sierra truck. But it worked OK. Pressed the ball joints out nicely. Super heavy, so watch your fingers!!

Crazy strong. I bought several other tools I was so impressed with this set. I used it on the front ball joints for a 2001 Ford Excursion 4x4 diesel, same as F250, Dana 50 for same year, and they pushed right out. It's was like magic!

Great set. Made short work of the rear ball joints in my 2012 Ford Expedition. Case is well organized but really too light for the weight of the tools.

I’ve had a harbor freight press for a long time. It is not big enough for track bar ball joints on F250s. I was comparing this Goliath XL press to the Snap On which was a lot more money. Got the Goliath XL delivered and it’s great quality. It works very well for what I needed it for. Same exact size as the snap on ball joint press. Very happy with this purchase.

Worked perfect on a 2013 Yukon for the lower ball joints!

I removed & installed the upper & lower ball joints on my 2003 F350 4wd with the Goliath. It came with all the adapters that I needed. You have to fiddle around to get the right combination of adapters but you can get it done. This was the 1st time I did it myself. An extra hand would help as this beast is heavy. Tax out the door was $199. Totally worth it.

I've read a lot of reviews on the cheaper ball joint sets broke on people dealing with stubborn heavy duty truck ball joints. So I bought this unti hoping it wouldn't break even tho it was 3x more money. Buy once cry once. These removed the ball joints easily out of my ram 2500. The extra inches this unit offers over standard kits was appreciated. I also use this kit for u joints. Overall great kit even tho I will hardy use it often. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
