Bret Easton Ellis' disturbing novel is brought to the screen by Mary Harron. In 1987, twentysomething Wall Street broker Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) seems to have it all: he is handsome, successful and engaged to the beautiful Evelyn (Reese Witherspoon). However, Patrick is also engaged in an affair with Courtney Rawlinson (Samantha Mathis) - his colleague's fiancée - and at night indulges in a confused orgy of drugs, pornography, prostitution and murder fantasies. When Patrick is outshone by a rival at a board meeting, he takes out his frustration by knifing a man sleeping rough in the street. This sparks off a descent into violence and madness, with Patrick embarking on a bloody and random killing spree. Review: Highly recommended - Excellent. Better than the book. Bale is superb. Review: Dated special features from when DVDs were new. - Classic movie with one of Christian Bale's best performances. If you haven't seen it, it's one of the most unique movies of the late 90s (2000) Special Features: 2 Audio commentaries - The commentary with Director Mary Harron is good. She has plenty relevant to say. Haven't listened to the commentary with writer Guinever Turner. Deleted Scenes - The deleted scenes are presented along with short, on set interviews with cast members and have an optional commentary track with Mary Harron. One of the deleted scenes is in a Nightclub. Justin Theroux and Christian Bale are shout-talking to each other but it's funny because the music hasn't been put in. There's six scenes in total and are definiteley worth watching, even though the sound mixing hasn't been done on them. 'The 80's downtown' and from 'book to screen' featurettes - These featurettes are hilariously bad. The editing and graphics make me think these are from the first dvd release, which was when dvds and special features were a new medium. 'The 80s downtown' is only looseley related to the film, pretentious New York hipsters reminisce about the debauchery of new york in the period of the film. 'book to screen' was clearly made by the same folks and uses a lot of the same interviewees. It has a lot of interested information about the film, mostly during the pr-production process, like Leonardo DiCaprio being determined to star as Bateman, against Hannon's wishes. I don't believe there are any new special features for this release, apart from the menu screen, and you can tell that they were put together around the year 2000 but i found them interesting anyway.

American psycho
Darkly comedic, this portrait of a serial killer descending into insanity while trying not to let his mask of normality slip is a tale of what it’s like to try and fit into society where your business card and what restaurant you frequent stands for how successful you are in life.

Just what is it trying to show?
I found it difficult to take this in any way seriously! What is it trying to show? As a portrait of a serial killer descending into insanity it is hindered by an attempt to show it as a darkly comic event, despite a truly excellent performance by Christian Bale. The whole thing began to falter about halfway through and even Bale’s brilliant performance could not elevate it above a 3-star event, a 2-star if not feeling generous.

NO BLUE RAY BIANCA: SI ITALIANO ed. Blue ray BLU: NO ITALIANO, si ENG + SUB Ed. Blue ray NERA: NO ITALIANO, SI INGLESE E TEDESCO + SUB SOLO TEDESCO.

Nice packaging, arrived on time and in good condition. Excellent film, that takes "90%" of it's script directly from the book, according to the director, and it sure feels like it. Definitely worth seeing if you enjoyed the novel.
