Easy to use and install - An excellent starter dashcam
Like many of you I have long thought about getting a dashcam to protect my family and I as we drive. So after doing way too much research and reading reviews I settled on the N4 Pro. There's lots of options out there and I felt that the Vantrue camera was a solid choice.I like the fact that the three cameras were all available in high resolution and have excellent night vision as well. The cabling is easy enough to hide with a little effort - but don't let that deter you. The end result is well worth the effort to have a clean install. The camera attaches really securely to the windshield with a super strong 3m adhesive backing. No suction cups that a lot of cheaper cameras give you. The 3m adhesive ensures that the camera ain't going anywhere under any circumstance. Same with the rear camera that you attached to your rear window.I love the additional capability of using a hard-wire always option (it is sold separately) as opposed to the cigarette adapter. I purchased this hard-wire module and have zero regrets. It ensures that the camera is always recording - even in a low-bitrate mode when parking for extended periods. And no dangling cables going down to the center console for power. My favorite thing about the camera system is the ability to use the smartphone app for monitoring and replay - especially in the case of an accident. You may need to be able to show the police what happened at the scene of the accident, and with a smartphone app connected to your dashcam you'll have that ability. As opposed to having to retrieve the microSD card, take it home, get the video off of it, email it.... you get the idea. Having the app ensures that I have the video data always available at a moment's notice. This type of additional assurance is priceless. Some things to note when you get the cam - go through the settings and make sure you've configured it the way you want it. You can't adjust settings while the vehicle is in motion. So drive with it to get a feel for how it operates and then park and make adjustments. For me, the roads where I live are pretty terrible in most places so I found that every pothole and bump triggered the cam to take a picture because of the vibration. I reduced the sensitivity setting so that it doesn't trigger for each pothole and bump. Also, I changed the app/camera connection timeout to 'never' essentially making sure the app is always connected to the camera when the vehicle is on. I found the default setting of '10 minutes' was annoying because you would have to reconnect the app periodically, which is super distracting and dangerous to do while driving. So yea, once you get some initial settings tweaked to your liking this camera system is super solid.I've seen some reports of overheating - I can't confirm that because I installed it this winter and I haven't noticed any overheating at this point. We'll see if that changes this summer, but like anything that is attached to your windshield, it wouldn't surprise me if it got pretty hot in the sun.tl;dr - great cam, easy to use and install, perfect for your first dashcam. buy with confidence!

Excellent Dash Cam
This Vantrue N4 Pro was installed in my Subaru Outback. Pictures show the front and rear camera installation. The video clarity is amazing, as are the many features. Camera setup, control, and video downloads are easily done with the Vantrue phone app. The app is very easy and intuitive to use.Front camera installation is very easy and solid (and easy to remove too) with the windshield film mounting method vs the old suction cup method. I had to use a different method for the rear camera since the entire rear window is covered by the defogger heating element, so not a good idea to mount anything covering the heating element. Instead I mounted the camera on the rear plastic headliner, and thus also avoiding dealing with routing the cable through the rear door flex wiring channels. To avoid the curtain side airbags I ran the connection cable along the bottom door channels, which also required adding a 6 foot extension USB cable due to the longer cable run. Do not run the cable across the airbags, especially on the A pillar. Here I ran the cable down the A pillar along the windshield down to the dashboard to avoid crossing the cable over the airbag. In this installation, I used the cigarette lighter socket for power, so the camera turns on and off automatically with the ignition switch. To make use of the parking mode, one would need to use the OBD connector or hardwire to the fuse box for uninterrupted power, which I elected not to do in this case. (I do use the OBD connector in my other vehicle to enable using the parking mode).I now have Vantrue dash cams in both my vehicles and the cameras have been totally reliable with great performance. I highly recommend Vantrue cameras.

The perfect size for functional use. Great theft deterrent & keeps cops from violating your rights
This camera is easy to setup in virtually any type of car/truck. It has a very sturdy build. It feels solid and I like the size. It is about the same size as my rear view mirror. It takes amazing 4k videos. This model has the PlatePix feature that uses AI to make the cars license plates easier to read in case you need it for evidence. The install of the main unit was trivial just stuck it on the window and hide the wire behind the interior panels using the included tool. For the rear camera you need to run a wire from the main unit to the back window so I recommend dropping the headliner and running it under there. Trust me its much easier than you think. Just watch a few videos online to build your confidence. My reason for spending so much on this camera is because Im an independent contractor for the big blue retail and grocery store. Im a delivery driver and Im a business owner, my car is my place of work, my livelihood. I need to have the assurance that my dash cam is catching everything around me. That means a clear video, the license plates of the cards around me, any and all audio captured, The speed I am going, and how my exacted location tracked in real time and synced to the video. With the micro sd card so easy to remove i could just pop it out and pop it into my cpu for a quick download. With dual band wifi, over the air video downloads and firmware upgrades are super quick. The only downside is the price. I know, you get what you pay for, and it totally is worth every penny.
