I purchased this item for my trip to Thailand. It worked very well both outside (using built in data) and inside (Wifi). I used it to communicate with Thai locals, in shops, bars, supermarkets and even outside on the streets, and it perforemed very well and everyone could understand the translated English to Thai. I even used it in China while at Beijing International Airport to ask for directions, again, worked very well.

Bought this 2 months ago, now in Thailand won't connect with the pre installed simWorse still not working with offline language downloaded, will only work via my mobile phone hotspot, expensive waste of time, gone back to using Google translate don't waste your money .

Due to lack of the user manual in a booklet I find it very difficult to make use of the translator.

must say, great value, small and easy to use. partner is Romanian, her dad is with us, and like me we don't speak each others language. Now we get by and laugh..

Just returned from a tour of China. On the whole the T1 Mini worked adequately in translating simple tourist type phrases - spoken slowly. It wasn't fast enough to capture real time conversation, leading to mis-translations, fortunately leading to much amusememt.As a backup, there was still use of Google translate via a VPN, and on the Chinese speaker's side, Baidu Translate. The speed of conversation limited to how fast one could type.The Mini T1's Camera is too small for signs and menu translations, so it was back to G-Translate for that task.In summary, a translator by whatever means breaks the ice and breaks down barriers, well worth it, but needs more work.

Problems with trying to translate to Thai, and will not pick up Thai language when wanting to translate back into English. I want my money back or a device that works.
