this item is being advertised as a USA to UK converter, but it is just a building site saftey converter. While it is true that the unit will convert UK electricity supply to 110 volts, the units are not actually made to run USA appliances and as such are not made to deal with the difference in line current. Ie; USA use 60hz and the UK uses 50hz, these converters are not made to deal with that difference, which could mean your USA appliance will not work correctly or may be damaged.

I first received it a month ago. That was fast delivery. Having nothing to try on because my 110VAC coffee roaster was on its way despite ordering earlier from ebay. I used test pen instead just to check. The 240V supply was OK but there was no AC power from the two 110V output sockets. I made my complaint but no feedback. I sent it to my electrician but he came back the next day saying it was all OK. Apparently, I used a 240VAC test pen on the 110V outlets. A mistake.Yesterday my coffee roaster arrived. It worked great with this transformer. I am a happy customer. One thing to note is that there is earth connection from this step down transformer. A lot of china-made 240/110VAC transformers do not have this earth connection.
