good multimeter
first one i ordered, the fuses didn't work. contacted ideal, they immediately sent replacement. second unit works great. was able to trace down my parasitic drain on my battery. comes with nice zippered bag. Instructions were alot of languages, so i pulled out all the languages i didn't need to make more room in the bag. nice unit

Very functional, but has limited time for mA and amp measurements
I needed a meter that- is CAT 3 600V rated- has a continuity beeper- has a back lightso I bought the Ideal 61-337.I'm an guy and I'm old school and have always used mechanical switch-ranged meters; this is my first auto-ranging meter. It takes some getting used to, because the decimal point moves automatically, which makes it necessary to 'read' the meter to determine where the decimal point when inputs change from high to low. But that's part of any learning curve with a new meter.I can't decide which is my most favorite feature - the backlit display (I seem to do a lot of work in dimly lit areas) or the continuity beeper. I love that I can silence the beeper with the Select button, or re-enable it, depending on what the task is.It does fill my need for a CAT 3 meter for line voltage measurements.I know I'll use the case clips on the back of the case that hold a probe so it one hand holds the meter and the probe. Nifty idea.Whatever push-on alligator clips or hook clips I was using before work on these probes as well.My one disappointment is the very short time allowed for mA (1 minute) and Amp (10 seconds) measurements, before there is the possibility of "meter damage" (quote from the manual). The ceramic fast blow fuses are not cheap: the 400mA fuses are $6 each on Amazon, the 10A fuses are a little less than a $1 each. I do a lot of process instrumentation work that involves 4-20mA and sometimes I'm hooked up for minutes at a time. I'll have to use a different meter for that. But I can't downgrade my rating because the limitation is in the manual, but I didn't read the manual before I bought it.I bought the Ideal UMHS-757 hanging strap from Home Depot because I couldn't find it on Amazon.I only wish digital multimeters had a zero pot for the zeroing the low Ohms/resistance range, like the old VOM moving coil meters did.
