High end thermometer for an absolute steal
I bought this thermometer a week or two ago but I wanted to use it in multiple applications before giving my official review. First thing first is the price, which I have to say, I was skeptical to the quality of the product based on the price of almost 50 dollars at the time of my purchase. It seemed like the thermometer was offering a lot for this price. I have bought multiple other thermometers for my grilling and cooking for more money that had less features. This did not disappoint. When i first got the package, this product oozed high end tech. As a person who loves tech/smart home toys, I got the vibe from the packaging of the inkbird similar to that of apple products or nest products. Then comes the product itself. First of all, I seriously love that it charges via USB and I don’t need to worry about my AA or AAA batteries needing to be replaced regularly. Just plug in and charge up. Then we have the 4 probes, a large display on the thermometer itself, and an app to go with it all. Having the 4 probes alone made this purchase worth it. As a person who grills/smokes multiple different foods at once, the 4 probe system made this worth every penny for my uses. Then comes the app. Again, as a person who loves tech toys, the app that pairs with the thermometer itself was so easy to use, and it provided me comfort this Thanksgiving as I smoked a turkey for my family at my Aunt's house. I had a probe monitoring my smokers temp, which is charcoal, and on a windy day can mean an unpredictable cook. Well the inkbird put my mind at ease, because I set the probe to monitor for 275 degrees and was able to watch the graph which shows your set temperature, and the actual temperature over time with its deviations. After about 2 hours of smoking my turkey, I added a probe to the inkbird and used the preset for turkey (165 degrees). I was able to watch the temperature from the comfort of the indoors, and even across the street from my mothers house. Im not sure the exact distance between my Aunt's and Mom's houses, but it put the range of 150 feet to the test and it did not skip a beat. I would even venture to say it was further than 150 feet. To wrap it up, I would highly recommend this product to any other grilling/cooking enthusiasts, especially if you cook or grill multiple things at once, and require multiple temperature probes. Once again, I was a huge fan of the app, being the tech nerd that I am, and I felt that the product did everything and more than I could have hoped for. Buy the Inkbird IBT-4XS, and you will not be disappointed!

Add needed Bluetooth features to your pellet grill
A must have for anyone with a non Bluetooth equipped pellet grill. Bluetooth app is amazingly simple to use, even for us non tech types. I use this with my PIT Boss Austin XL pellet grill and purchased as an upgrade for my Inkbird IBT-4XP Bluetooth thermometer. This is a much sleeker unit, and will definitely look nicer on the grill. The first thing I did upon receiving the product was perform the icebath and boiling water test to check for accuracy. The probes performed within spec showing 34° F in ice and in boiling water had one probe correctly display the 212° but the other three read 210°. I find these results to be perfectly acceptable, and it's nice to know that the unit gives accurate temp readings without the need for calibration. The great thing about having temp readings you can trust is no longer having to rely on the Grills digital display readings OR lid thermometer. I now can get a temp reading just above the grill grates and know exactly how much heat I'm applying to the meats. Learning that my Pit Boss grill was regularly showing temp readings of 25° below actual grate temps has improved my smokes. Having a reading you trust is a real confidence builder as you start getting into more ambitious cooks. No one wants to mess up an expensive hunk of meat due to a poor temp reading. Connecting the unit to the app is super simple, just download BBQGO app to your phone, open up the app, select connect on the upper right corner of the app and power on unit. Everything is very intuitive and works exactly as you think it should. Graphics on the app lead a little bit to be desired, but I'll take it's extreme simplicity over bells and whistles anyday. App has preset temps for various meats and it's easy to add custom temperatures anytime you can't find what you are looking for. Adding custom presets is also a nice way to keep track of which probe is in which cut of meat, labeling one chicken wings and another chicken breast can save you a lot of time in trying to figure out which probe slot goes to which. Bluetooth range is great, I can keep a connection to the unit from anywhere within my house and can even get to the end of my driveway before losing Bluetooth connection while the unit is in my average suburban sized backyard. As far as unit display it's perfectly adequate. If you already own the 4XP model then know that this display, while cleaner looking, is virtually identical. The face of the 4XS unit is on an angle to help felt overhead sunglare, but the RED LCD could be a bit brighter for those of you trying to read in high sunlight. This isn't a negative to me, since I'm relying on the app to keep track of the temp and rarely need to read it off the unit. If you are considering this unit as an upgrade to an already purchased 4XP unit, it's probably not necessary. This feels more like a refresh of an already good unit then a completely new model. My only real complaint on the old 4XP unit was the magnets were not strong enough to really secure the unit as you started moving probes around. The magnets on the 4XS unit are noticably stronger, and I hope that over time they prove to be capable of securing the unit as I adjust the probes.

Thermometer good, App bad
The Good: The thermometer itself seems to work pretty well. There are numerous notices to push the sensor plugs all the way into jacks, and I had no problems there. The readout is ok in the sun; I had to shade it with my hand and look closely, but, hey, it's bright outside. The unit pairs pretty easily with your phone, and it's even easier to read the temperatures on your phone, on which you can adjust the brightness. You also don't have to wait for the temperature readout to cycle through each probe when viewing on the phone. The app does have presets you can use, with the option to adjust them as you see fit. The Bad: The app is useful in being able to view your temperatures without being right next to the grill. It's also easier to read than the unit itself, because it's less limited. That's about where the usefulness of the app ends. Sure, you can see a graph, but if you're smoking something for any amount of time, don't expect to be able to see the whole cook - no matter how close you are you lose connection every 30-45 minutes, and your graph will reset. You also can't touch any part of the graph to read any individual data points, there aren't any gridlines to make things more readable, and forget zooming in. Oh yeah, your graph just reset again. Those presets with alarms? Yeah, don't expect to be able to get that notification on time. When the connection gets dropped, it doesn't reconnect until you actively check it again, which means the alarm will go off when you are already doing a manual check, and at that point it's just an obnoxious thing you have to click away to get to what you want to see. If you are looking at it when the alarm is tripped, you have to hit a hamburger menu and leave what you already see and recognize, so you can navigate somewhere else to turn the alarm off, because it won't stop unless you do so. Overall, the app doesn't do you any favors that don't come with pretty noticeable drawbacks. It would be one thing if these features weren't offered as selling points, but they are, and they aren't really functional. None of this is to say that you shouldn't be watching your temps periodically or tracking them on a log; you should be. This shouldn't replace the things you do that you know you need to. I got this so I could try to dial in my temp control a little better and know exactly what's going on in my grill. To that end, when the graph works, it's nice to see the temperature curve flattening out or spiking in response to things you do. It's also nice to get a more accurate and faster read than you can get with the built in grill thermometer. Maybe if you set your phone not to turn the screen off with inactivity, and never switch out of the app for anything else, and keep it plugged in because you're going to kill that battery before you're done otherwise, maybe then you can see that whole graph and the alarms will mean something. Maybe. TL;DR - great for reading your temperatures on your phone. Keep a log from that and don't depend on the app for anything else. Don't get caught up reading the graphs and forget to log your info on paper.

Accurate and easy to use
First some background info: I am an avid pellet smoker who smokes meat several times a month. I have struggled with higher priced wireless thermometers for years. I currently have 3 Maverick two port units. The reason for three is that I often have two smokers going side by side and need to register the grill temp plus the meat temp. The mavericks did the job but the probes were never accurate but they were at least consistent. The third unit was simply as a back up or for when I was unable to get the Maverick to program correctly. Those units are not easy to program and one wrong button and you find yourself cycling through the whole temp range. To program the Mavericks typically took me 30 minutes to get the pair running. Then there is also an issue with batteries, they use AAA and even when off they drain the batteries so I had to always remove and reinstall batteries never knowing when they were going to run down in the middle of the night on a long smoke. I often to 13-15 hour Brisket smoking. Inkbird IBT-4XS : I have to say this is the most accurate thermometer that I have. Seems to be spot on with all test. After using this a few times, I have put all my higher priced Maverick units in the closet. With the app, this unit is easy to program, can make custom programs for special temp ranges or specific temps for certain meats. Programming and setting up is literally a few minutes. When using custom presets, it is only a matter of turning on the unit and connecting the Bluetooth to my phone. I have used it on both android and apple products and have had zero issues with the app on either. I will have to say the Bluetooth range on my Ipad seems a little better than on my android. When setting up, just make sure you insert the probes into the unit until you hear them click into place. those reviews saying that were reading 500+ inside the house is because the probe was not inserted fully. The instructions clear tell you that if you do not insert the probe into the unit fully that you will get the 500+ degree error reading. Connecting the until to my mobile device was simple. The alarm warning is very loud. Battery life is great, have not had an issue since you just recharge the unit and do not need batteries. I did a test just leaving the unit connect to my ipad inside the house and the unit ran almost 3 days before shutting off and still saved all my pre-set info. Took about 2 hours to fully charge back to 100%. Does not seem to lose much charge during storage but obviously it will lose a little each day. Also the magnet on the back of the unit it plenty strong. I magnet mount mine on the hopper area of a Trager and have had zero issues. The probe cables are long enough to reach two smokers sitting side by side thus giving you 2 probes to use in each smoker. So in summary, I could not be more happy with the unit. Seems well build although would not want to drop it. Hope to have many years usage out of this product.

Works great - update 12 mo. later / great service
Update 1/7/2025. The odd problem I had with my base (on/off switch not engaging so the unit will work). I was sent a replacement unit and it is working as expected now.... Great service with this supplier. Update 1/1/2025 - I was able to communicate with the seller and Once I did after performing some troubleshooting and sending in some photos of my base - they agreed to send me a replacement. I am very impressed with the attention I received once I sent the request for help. I will be anxiously waiting for the delivery of the replacement base since it is such a great device and app which I can monitor temps while I am working in my office. Update 12/25/2024 - Well I really did like the functions of this temp probe, BUT now that a year has passed, I was going to use it and noticed the charge was low - (first time I had to charge since initial charge). I plugged it in to charge, then after charging for about an hour tried to turn it on and it would not turn on at all.... I can keep it plugged in and turn it on - but the battery is not holding a charge at all. From the paper - I cannot remove / replace the battery either, so I plopped down ~$35 for a 1 year usable device. I have contacted the company via email and facebook - hopefully I will receive a good response to repair or replace.... this is just over 1 year old... I do not see paperwork on the warranty. ***** I liked the special over Christmas.... glad I bought it. The only trouble I have is the size and the curve on the probe because previously I would thread the probe through a small hole on my Karubque. The length and curve kept me from doing this so I have to just put the cable through the door and watch as I am closing the door to make sure it does not get caught in the side.... Besides that it worked great and is easy to setup on my phone, plus the transmitter is strong enough that I can go to my office in front of the house and still have the connection which was a problem with a previous one I was using.

A must for any BBQ enthusiast!
Unboxing: The first thing I noticed is the sleek, compact design. I also have Inkbird’s 6 probe thermometer, and the IBT-4XS just looks better. The thermometer comes with 4 probes, 2 probe holders and a charging cable. The fact that the thermometer has an internal, rechargeable battery is a huge plus. It already had an 85% charge, but I went ahead and charged it. Pre-cook testing; I put all 4 probes in an ice bath and in boiling water before doing my first cook. I also used my 6 probe Inkbird and a digital Weber thermometer as part of the test. In the ice bath all 4 probes read 34 degrees. The 6 probe Inkbird also read 34 while my Weber read 32. During the boiling water test the probes for the IBT-4XS read 210 degrees while the 6 probe Inkbird read 212 and the Weber 208. Overall, I am satisfied with the accuracy of this unit. The app: Inkbird’s BBQ Go app is a great feature. It is super easy to pair with the thermometer via Bluetooth and gives you all the info you need about your cook in progress. It allows wireless monitoring of your cook. I decided to do pork butt as my first cook with this unit, so I set the high limit for each of the probes I used to 203 degrees. When the internal temp was reached an alarm sounded. I didn’t have to babysit the cook...the thermometer did it for me. Awesome! For this particular cook I was using a pellet smoker, so I didn’t need to worry about the cooker maintaining temperature; however, when I use a traditional cooker I will use one of the probes to monitor the temp in the cooker. You can set a temperature range and have the thermometer alert you via the app if the cooker goes outside of the range. If you are doing a long, overnight cook, this is a fantastic feature. Go ahead and take a little nap. The alarm will let you know if your cooker falls outside of your desired temperature range. The Cook: I cooked the two beautiful pork butts pictured above. They came out amazing, and I never had to worry about their progress. A quick look at my phone, and I instantly knew what was going on outside. It rained all day, so it was extra nice not having to go outside to check the temp all the time. I have a fairly large home, and I was able to monitor the temps from every corner of the house. Not until I decided to make a quick trip to the store did I lose connection with the thermometer, and the app immediately warned me that I was no longer connected. Potential future upgrades: This is a very nice thermometer, especially for the price. If there is anything I’d like to see on future models from Inkbird it would be 1) Wi-Fi connectivity so temps could be monitored away from home is needed. This would be especially nice during super long cooks. 2) The app to store details about the cook...what did you cook, how long did it take, how did the temps progress during the cook, notes about the cook such as rubs used, whether or not you wrapped the meat, etc, etc. Just a couple of wish list items in case the fine folks at Inkbird are reading this review. Overall, I am very happy with this thermometer, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys BBQ. Happy cooking!

Works perfectly!
I've been looking for a good probe thermometer for grilling for a while now to replace my trusty old model that's clearly seen better days. My original has only 1 temp probe, no backlit display, and no corresponding phone app. I watched a BBQ dude on YouTube and he had recommended Inkbird - and this one for the price of less than $40 bones seemed to tick all the boxes I was looking for. After reading reviews concerning the range of the bluetooth, I was a little worried that the WiFi version may be a better option - but it's about double the price, and I didn't really want to spend $85 or so at this time. I unboxed it, downloaded the BBQ Go app on my Galaxy phone, and quickly and easily paired the two. I threw a whole spatchcocked chicken on the grill, and I used one probe (Probe 1) for the chicken, and I used a second probe (probe 3) for the temperature inside the grill. Speaking of probe 3 - I noticed some reviewers didn't seem to know that the one probe that does not match the others - the one that is not pointy - is meant to be used for this exact reason - so please bear that in mind if you purchase this. You take one of the grill clips - clip it into the grill and slide that probe through so it measures your grill temps. As you can see in my picture - probe 1 marked Chicken 2 is 88°F and probe 3 is showing my grill temp at 390°F. Also note that the app includes many pre-created temperatures based on the meat you're cooking. I tend to create my own (Chicken 2 for example) - so I can prevent overcooking meats. This app has some good presets - in fact, they include a rare beef option at 120 - which is great - but personally, I like my beef VERY rare - so I cook to about 115 or so and it's great that I can set my own custom temps. I'll admit the app can use a few quality of life upgrades like a dark mode setting (I always use dark mode on my phone) - and also a way to stop the alarm without opening the app by using clicking the notification. Unfortunately, that does nothing - but I won't deduct any points for that as it's not a deal breaker. Bottom line - so far this device works great - has an easy to see display, works great with the app and has a much better range than I expected based on reviews. I was able to check my temperatures from my kitchen while my grill was on the back patio and I had no drops and no loss in signal strength. Granted, I live in a townhouse, and if you live on a farm and your grill is really far from your house, I can't speak to how well that would work, but for me - the range is excellent. Bottom line, this product works great and I will be using it for ALL my cooks from now on. I'll update this review if anything gets weird in the near future - but this Inkbird Meat Thermometer gets my approval and recommendation.

Great Quality & Reliability
I have had this thermometer for over five years now and it has been fantastic. I have used it on pork ribs, beef brisket, turkey, pork butt and more. The temperatures on the probes have been accurate, and I test the probes regularly. The base unit holds a charge for a long time. I only have to charge it about every three smokes and most of my smokes are over 8 hours. I have never had any connectivity issues with the Bluetooth. Only recently, have I had a couple of probes start to read random fluctuating temperatures, which I believe is a result of the wiring getting worn out from prolonged use and cleaning. I thought about buying a new thermometer, but I'm just going to get some new probes and keep using the thermometer I have. It says something to the quality and success of a product if they are still selling the same model five years later.

Definitely recommend
Very good product. Due to misuse, 2 probes failed, but the seller agreed and sent 2 replacement probes for free. The product is really very good, but do not use the probes at temperatures above 270-300C for a long time. Thanks to the seller for the responsiveness.

Love it!
I used it on 2 small turkeys that were in separate oven roasters that needed different cooking times & it was so easy with this product. I was able to watch both temperatures at the same time & knew whether I needed to adjust the temperature of one or the other to make sure they were done at the same time. Reading was very accurate I.e. I used the 15 minutes per pound to determine how long it would take to cook the turkeys, and according to the temperature reading, they were done about 1 hour earlier than this. As this was my first time using, I wasn’t sure if the temperature was wrong, but the turkeys were perfect. Had I not used this product, the turkeys would have been overcooked. Easy to sync app with iPhone. Highly recommend.

Works well
It worked until i was on the otherside of the house from the smoker. Then it gives a warning your out of range. It gives real time temperature readings. Its is super easy to use and you can custom set alarms for temp or time independently to each probe so you could be cooking either different meats or meats of various start times from what I’m finding. Its a handy thing to have . You can go about the rest of your dishes without peeking and letting out heat.
