Robolink CoDrone Lite - Programmable and Educational Drone Kit

I’ve been teaching drones for over 2 years at the local tech club. I purchased a CoDrone to see how it might be used in our programs. I was throughly impressed. Out of the box, I had it up and running on a chrome book using Blockly within 1 minute. I didn’t even have to use the external blue tooth module that was include. I also tested it using Snap! and python. The python integration was one of the best I’ve seen. The CoDrone was the only drone I’ve found so far that exposes the sensor data the the user, which has been my issue with the parrot mambo and Ryze Tello. The only drawback seems to be that the IR receiver and transmitters used for “Battle Bots” does not seem to be included in the python libraries. I am purchasing the educational pack for my own after school program.

I was hoping to use it with Scratch but the environment I found isn't the greatest - and it sometimes "misbehaves" and flies up to the ceiling and just stays there. You have to flip it upside down to get it to shut off. I've seen others use it with different environments so I'll eventually try those. Either way, works good enough for 4 stars - still would recommend to learn coding, physics, etc.

CoDrone Lite can be used with Snap! a code block-based programming language and less reliance on the remote controller.Our students enjoyed the Snap! environment and created code for the CoDrone faster, and code that was more accurate.Working through the tutorials and missions on the Robolink website is worthwhile for students.Part of the assessment for this unit of work was a Coding Folio that included the programs created and run on the CoDrone by each student. The major assessment task however, was the creation of a flight path that navigated the machine successfully to its destination, avoiding all obstacles. We chose to develop a flight path through our library.Highly recommends for students in Junior high to high school students!

There are a lot of drones out there, but this one is different.. it’s an awesome learning tool - you can program it to fly specific patterns and navigate obstacles. I bought two based on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. I like that my nephew and godson have something fun to play with while simultaneously learning desirable coding skills. Customer service was fantastic - the team was quick to respond to my e-mail when I had questions about how to get everything working. Made great gifts for the little ones.

Kids coding drones!

I bought this drone for my 17 yr old sibling and I. We both loved the challenge of learning the programming aspect of the drone and the satisfaction you get when it does what you tell it to do. Definitely recommend it!

Cool drone with a cool concept. I got this for my little cousin who’s 9 for his birthday and got started with him. The online instructions were pretty easy to follow. My cousin who had no coding experience before got the drone flying pretty quickly! The block programming they use seems pretty similar to Scratch, and we had fun making our drone do different things around his house. It seems pretty durable too since it seemed fine after we crashed it into the walls and different family members throughout the night. The only thing I wish was that it had a longer battery life. It would die within 10 minutes, but then I guess it comes with a charger. We would just charge it while we played around with the code. Overall is a pretty cool gift for a 9 year old kid!
