Centered & Straight
This is a solid quality tool. Comes with some drill bits and interchangeable guide bushings. Make sure you really crank down on the tool. You could get sone deflection if not. The product worked well for me in making floating shelves. I would recommend it.

Works excellent but needs a center line between holes, initial set up is unclear
This tool works very well but could be majorly improved:-- The tool has a center with the doweling guides and two left/right arms on springs. The instructions don't actually specify how to loosen/tighten the give and the initial tool wasn't centering accurately because of the play. There's a nut, spring, and ball assembly that controls the center plate that needs to be tightened.-- Has markings indicating centers of the holes but really needs markings for centering between holes to center two dowels instead of just one. Easy to scratch in a center mark but still inconvenient.

Nice jig for it's intended purpose.
This is a well built jig that works well. I do wish I could disassemble the jig to use on flat faces.

It’s Ok for occasional use.
Oh, the DAYDOOR Self Centering Doweling Jig, a $31.99 Amazon gem that promises woodworking wizardry but delivers a comedy of errors! This red contraption looks like a futuristic crab claw, ready to pinch your boards into submission. Its “aircraft-grade aluminum” splints and “45 steel” body sound like they belong in a sci-fi flick, not my garage. But let’s talk shop—literally.First, the good: it’s got six bushings and three drill bits, so you’re ready to drill holes like a caffeinated woodpecker. The adjustable width (0.4” to 2.1”) is handy for various boards, and it clamps like a clingy ex at a high school reunion. When it works, it’s a dowel-drilling dream, aligning holes with a precision that’d make a laser jealous. Now, the comedy: out of the box, this jig wobbles like a toddler on roller skates. The “self-centering” feature? More like “self-questioning,” as holes can end up off by a pesky 1/16 inch—enough to turn your shelf into a modern art piece titled “Leaning Disaster.” The instructions are as clear as a foggy swamp, and calibrating it requires a micrometer, grease, and the patience of a saint. The drill bits? They’re about as straight as a politician’s promise, and the threads on the clamp screw need more oil than a creaky tin man.For $31.99, it’s a steal if you enjoy a challenge—or a good laugh. It’s sturdy, but you’ll need to tinker like a mad scientist to make it sing. Perfect for DIYers with a sense of humor and a knack for fixing “precision” tools. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand through the woodworking rodeo.

Easy to use
Bought this to use in making several end table tops by doweling 2 x 4s together. Easy to use accurate in matching holes in each piece. The mark to center the dowel hole before drilling is very accurate.

These doweling jigs are not made to sufficiently tight tolerances
This doweling jig did not accurately center the holes across the width of the board. Unfortunately I didn't figure this out until I had inserted the dowels into the boards and was assembling them together. The boards ended up being off by about 1/16", which totally negates the purpose of the doweling jib. I later determined why this was the case: the jig is made to far too loose of manufacturing tolerances. In other words, the construction is too sloppy. As shown in the photos, you can easily move the center (black) section of the jig back and forth with respect to the blue clamping parts...which makes the location of the holes totally inaccurate.
