Reasonable price for the quantity you receive, and lentils can be stored for a long time if stored correctly, so it makes a good pantry food. The dal itself was quite clean, maybe only a couple pieces of other plant material I noted in the whole bag. These did require a quick rinse before using as I do with most dal.Cooks quickly and can be used in a lot of different ways. It provides a little variety to just regular bean and green lentils, as I tend to eat a lot of legumes and try to avoid animal-based proteins.

For $14.99 (price at time of writing), I thought this 4lb bag of urad dal was a little on the pricey side. However, lentils make excellent choices for the pantry as they keep for a long time and Taj brand is a company I am familiar with and trust. I found that the legumes were even in size and color, which means there was some form of quality control. I dam very excited to cook with this bag of urad dal!

I ordered the TAJ Urad Dal | 4-Pounds | Indian Origin | All-Natural. This is the first time I have used this type of food, so I don't have a bunch of experience with making different dishes or trying different types. I just did some online searches, and figured out a way to make it. I rinsed it several times, then I let it soak overnight. I boiled it for almost 30 minutes on the stove, and it was ready to go. It has a nice, mild flavor, and it blends well with other items. I ended up mixing it with some regular rice, burger, taco seasoning, green enchilada sauce, and I made a enchilada casserole type dish and it was good. I can tell I can mix this with so many things to add some fiber and protein. I'll probably just make a big batch and then freeze much of it so I don't have to go through the process again when I want to add it to something. Overall, I don't have any complaints and I am glad I was able to try it, thank you.

Mine seems of good quality. The bag was intact and none leaked out. The expiration date is is little under 3 years from now.

This four pound bag of TAJ Urad Dal arrived as expected. The Dal was well cleaned and I have not had any issues with quality or freshness. This is nice to have in the pantry. I wish it came in a resealable bag though, but beyond that I am totally satisfied with this.

I used this Ural Dal in a savory porridge type recipe with added protein. It was more of a traditional meal. It was very easy to boil and it complemented whatever spices I used very well. I loved the texture and it was well liked all around. This is my first time using this particular bean, and I would again. It was very fresh and I felt the value was great for the amount received. I'm also looking forward to trying many more recipes in the future.
