Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache Internal Bare Drive with SMR Technology 3.5" - ST8000AS0022
Lotsa storage but not very fast. Works great for archiving, like the name says.

Write speed isn't great, fluctuated from ~160MB/s to down to ~8MB/s copying almost 2TB of movies. Read speed is fine, more than enough to stream content from. Takes a sec to spool up, but other than that it's been great. Over 17000hrs on one and just bought another. Drives are the exact same, just different firmware versions.

Best value archive hdd
this is a great drive for long term archive of movies pictures etc. just be careful to check warranty expiration date at Seagate.com before you open package. Twice now I have received drives with only 1 year left that had sat on a shelf somewhere too long

$60 price increase since I bought
Glad I bought a few of these in 2018. They're still doing great. I had to knock of a few stars for 'value for money', since it now costs 27% more than it did four years ago. I thought these things were supposed to be getting less expensive, not more.

Drive failed after 5 weeks.
One of the drives failed after just 5 weeks. Amazon was nice enough to exchange it even though I was 1 week past the 30 day return window.

... of these for over a year now and no SMART etc warnings
Been running a few of these for over a year now and no SMART etc warnings. Perfect for storage you do not write to often and do a lot of reading from.
