Review: A must read - A must read for specialists and generalist. Very well explained with ample examples Review: Build your Range. “Its Growth.” - I’m personally loving this book, even though I haven’t finished it yet. I would still love to share what I’ve understood so far from reading it. It feels like a complete mindset shift a real game changer. At the same time, I do feel it presents a debatable perspective, and adapting the author’s views in today’s fast changing world can be challenging. Range by David Epstein brings a very powerful thought process… one that’s completely opposite to what most of us believe. In a world where we constantly push ourselves and even our kids towards early specialisation, this book offers a fresh and much-needed perspective. It reminds us that exploring different paths, trying new things, and building a wide range of experiences is what truly helps us grow and shine. Because honestly, life doesn’t come with clear rules ,and every step demands new thinking and creativity. I personally feel it’s a very thoughtful and refreshing approach to success.

We, Jack of all trades, need not be anxious seeing specialists out there
I have been an individual who have liked to do many things. During my student days I was doing activities in music, drama, sports and studies. Later on and till now before reading this book, I had guilt of not specializing in any one field and felt incomplete because of lack of depth in one domain. But at subconscious level, I was aware that I have felt rich and benefited from my range. This book acts as a solace to individuals like me that diverse experiences and skill sets are equally rewarding. An important read for everyone out there

If you feel you are meandering in your career or don't have a clear path... this is the book to read
Really insightful and makes a case for how range helps individuals shine. In the unpredictable world where situations are mostly novel, breadth rather than depth provides more ammunition for success. There are innumerable examples from fields as diverse as music, sports, science where the breakthroughs happened not because of hyperspecialization, but because of some other work in other field that individuals done in the past and were able to integrate to the current situation. A good book to read.

Innovative approach.
Contains numerous patchy pieces of information, rather than an organically evolving theme or philosophy. I wish the author had gone deep into a fewer examples to make out an authentic case for having breadth than depth in ideas and concepts.

Helps you go ahead long way peacefully
Recommended for people who know they are worth more than current scenario and are not able to prove themselves in an obvious manner. Aka Generalists

Quite insightful and wonderful read
I started reading this book as it was recommended by few of my b-school seniors and I now understand why. I loved the stories and examples provided at the beginning of every chapter, which makes the read so enjoyable. I could sense repetition of ideas across various chapters, and felt that it could have made more sense to bring it together in one big chapter. There's a plethora of examples and problems and solutions which makes one keep on reading it without getting bored. It is a great book if you are a parent, a teacher, a coach, mentor or a people manager. For me, this is one the best books I have read so far in my life. It's not preachy, and opens door to a different way of looking at life. Personally, I always felt that I had a problem that I wanted to a range of things in my life - shows in my education and career choices so far. This book offers me a token of validation that perhaps it's not bad to meander onto different things and arrive at your calling!

Interessantissimo

Während Spezialisierung in eng abgegrenzten Feldern (z.

An eye and mind opening book
I found Range to be an eye and mind opening book especially for those of us that were constantly tempted to follow an ever narrowing attitude towards knowledge, learning, perception as well as research. The book was written in a clear and accurate way that allows for knowledge to easily flow in while also offering a very pleasant read. The book is also very practical as it deals with many things we do every day throughout our life, and it helped me challenge my way of thinking on one hand while it also provided me with a new thinking and acting tool for right now and for the future. I recommend this book to all of us that were always fund of objectivity and didn’t have an accurate and practicable definition for it. Staying objective is difficult and this book is a very good companion for that task…
