WAY better than having new remote curtains installed
My husband and I purchased these after getting an outrageous quote to have remote blinds installed in our home. We LOVE these! You can control the open/close via an app on your phone or just give them a gentle tug and that will initiate the open/close function. One item of note: We have these on a set of windows that are wide, so the drapery bar has an extension rod in the middle. When we open/close the drapes, the SwitchBot would pull that inner rod to one side (because it grips the rod as it runs back and forth). There is a piece you can buy with the SwitchBot to prevent this, so I would recommend that if you are working with a long span like we are, definitely spend the extra to get those pieces. (Initially, we used black electrical tape to prevent the inner rod from sliding out and it worked fine - we have black drapery rods, so you couldn't see the tape.). Also, from the inside, you can't see the unit - there is no bulge to indicate that anything was behind the curtain. We did not purchase the additional solar panel that you can use for charging. We will just charge them when needed. It's been 5 months and haven't had to charge them up yet.

Works great, easy setup!
I’ve got a huge smarthome setup and have automated quite a few things, so when I ordered this I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. I ordered the product and just let it sit for a while because I was dreading the typical setup > get confused > something goes wrong > troubleshoot for hours loop that typically comes with this kind of product so when I finally got around to installing it, I was pleasantly surprised. The setup was super easy and instructions were clear and concise. It came with everything you need and there were no serious issues. Attached some videos to show the smooth running. I was actually concerned it would struggle with the bump in the curtain rod where the smaller one goes into the bigger one but it had zero issues with it. I also ordered the solar charger to go with it and it snaps right it and hangs from the base of the device, keeping it in sunlight to charge with almost zero installation outside of unboxing and plugging it in. A couple important notes for others that I didn’t know before buying: these aren’t issues at all, but just stuff to be aware of that I didn’t see or didn’t think about before hand. 1) If you have a support in the middle of your curtains (like a 3rd bracket in the middle to hold your curtains up), you’ll need a second SwitchBot to open both sides and can’t use just a single one. 2) The solar charger does hang down from the main switch bot and would be visible during the day if you had sheer curtains. Some folks may not like that. Also, if your SwitchBot is defaulting to having your curtains all the way to one side or the other, it may not have the solar charger in the window long enough to charge. You CAN fix this, however, because they’ve got a really neat feature built in where you can tell it to auto charge during the day by bringing the SwitchBot into the sunlight no matter where it’s at, when it needs to. This just means your curtains won’t be at your preferred setting for a bit while it charges, but it really beats taking it down and charging. 3) Lastly, you do need a slightly thicker curtain rod - not crazy thick, maybe about the size of a US nickel or a little smaller. I have a pretty thin curtain rod on one side where I started, but it’s the telescopic kind so the other side is thicker and I flipped it over and it was fine. The little arms that hang on the rod actually have a lot of room to adjust to account for a lot of sizes, but they can only get so small so if you’ve got very thin curtain rods, be advised. That stuff all told, I’m very happy with mine and am planning to buy a few more now to fill up my curtains! I’m enjoying it quite a bit!

A LOT of trouble installing, but in the end, I think I like them
I was initially very, very frustrated, and considered putting it right back in the box and sending it back. Multiple things went wrong and there is ZERO support on the weekend. I couldn't find any articles or videos that addressed what I have and apparently support only works Mon-Fri. However, I persisted and got it all figured out. 1.) When I first connected the devices (I have two for a window that closes in the middle), they both connected. However, when I went to do the calibration part, it only recognized one of them. When I tried to add the other one back, it said it existed under the name Curtain 6A, but that device wasn't in my app at all. I deleted the other one, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't let me readd it. I finally stumbled upon an article that told me how to hard reset the switchbot (holding the button in for 45 sec), so I did that and rebooted my phone, and it finally worked. That was the most frustrating part and what almost made me give up. 2.) I accidentally installed them backward, so when it tried to callibrate they were going the wrong way. and wouldn't actually open. Now, I admit that it did say to make sure the logo is facing inwards, however, in every picture and video I saw, the logo was in red. Mine doesn't have a red logo on the device. So, I was using the sensor light to try to make sure it was positioned correctly. I finally discovered that it does have a logo, but it's just etched in, so I missed it over and over again. 3.) I saw the "helper beads" and that I should install them for my grommetted curtains, but there wasn't anything that explained what they were for. Maybe I'm just thick, but I found it very frustrating. I read a review of a person who thought they were ugly and just left them off, so I just left them off too. I finally realized though, that they're needed to pull the curtain all the way closed - to keep the sections of curtain even. I was able to install them behind the loops, so they're nearly invisible and the curtain closed much better afterwards. So. . .all of that's done. I'm also frustrated that this was advertised as working with Alexa, but it wasn't as obvious that I had to buy the hub to do so. I'm going to wait on that, because I think using the schedule will be fine. I like the way they open and close and I'm looking forward to having my curtains auto close tonight and auto open tomorrow morning. If I like it, I'll get more for my other windows, and I know the installation will go a lot smoother in the future!

Good product, terrible customer service
The curtain rod itself works well My issue is entirely with SwitchBot’s customer support. The system relies on small magnets for proper alignment. Without them, the curtain drifts and you’re stuck running manual calibration every few weeks. I lost the magnets that came with my unit and simply asked if I could buy replacements. SwitchBot refused to sell or send spare magnets — no workaround offered, nothing. Escalated to supervisor and some nonsense that this product has been discontinued. Obviously it hasn’t! So essentially a the whole thing is effectively junk because the company will not stand behind their product and offer spare parts.

It’s life altering!
I am disabled and can’t move around very well. My curtains are on the opposite side of the room of my side of the bed. It’s very difficult to get to them at times so someone else had to open and close them for me. Sometimes they just did not get opened. That’s what makes it life altering. I have set the schedule to open it at 8:00 a.m. and I get to wake up every morning to the beautiful light coming through my windows. It’s also quite handy for a person who suffers with migraines. I have the remote so all I have to do is push a button and the curtain closes. I watched the installation video about three times before attempting putting it on my rod. I had no trouble at all. And set up was extremely easy. What came in the box was a charging cable, both sides to the one switchbox and an instruction Manuel. I found that the video was more beneficial. Once installed behind your curtain you can operate it with your smart phone after downloading the SwitchBot app. If you don’t have a smart phone then you can purchase a remote to open and close the curtain. If you have an Alexa then you can purchase a hub to voice control. (I’m saving up for that one). It’s pricey but very much worth it especially if your movement is limited.

Has worked GREAT
- My expectations were very LOW for this product. It just seemed a little gimmicky. And as you can see the reviews are not stellar. But whatever, I had a new home and I wanted to do a lot of automation particularly around my office ("the engine room"). - I bought a pair to try em' out. After one month I liked them so much I bought another pair, the HUB2, and the Solar Rechargers! - I have the HUB2 linked to Apple Home Kit and the things just work flawlessly. "Hey Siri. Good morning!" is one of my favorite things to say in the morning as my lights come on and my curtains open. - This product has been SOLIID for 4 months so far, and it's still fine. - The only modification I had to do was... I have the smallest curtain rod size it will take... and over time... I noticed one rod would rotate. This becomes a problem because there are special metallic stickers that be SwitchBot needs to see in the middle of the rod... and when they can't be sensed... it causes issues. But I fixed the bar from rolling, and after that... it's been 100% - I was very skeptical that the solar rechargers would work too... BUT THEY DO! Checking right now .. after 3 months... I have not had to charge them one time! My office gets direct sun a few - Firmware upgrades happen! They care about good software! - And it's smart software. It has never once run rampant because it can't sense the magnets in the center of the rod (when I had that issue) nor has it gotten confused and run off the end. When it didn't the magnets, in my case, it made an intelligent guess as to where to stop. - They are expensive, $400 for 2 windows is an attention getter, but I must say I do like mine. - Solid product. Heavy duty. Great plastic choice. - The only thing I would change if I could is the noise. It's not horrible, it's not even bad, it just sounds a little gear-e. But I'll take it.

Misleading Description - NOT compatible with Alexa.
Works great and installation was honestly a breeze. There's a lot of info in the instructions so it might seem overwhelming at first but you realize it's because they write the instructions for EVERY single curtain type. It's really straightforward and I didn't use the beads for my grommet curtains. Literally just snapped the thing onto my curtain rod, stuck the magnet sticker thingy on one end, and it was good to go. The major gripe I have about this is that we were all misled into thinking this was Alexa compatible. it is not. You need to buy the hub to make it Alexa compatible. I also am not even sure how the hub would make this compatible, what extra functions I'd actually get through my Alexa if I were to connect this through a hub... it's all very unclear. And because having everything streamlined through my Alexa is a priority for me, I had to knock off 2 stars.

Absolute morning routine GAME CHANGER!
So first of all, I want to say this product is an absolute GAME CHANGER for waking up in the morning. My wife and I use light blocking curtains so we can sleep at night with street lights and cars and such outside at night. But then in the morning, we can't wake up. So I tried this product. Once I got it installed, it *very quietly and slowly* opens our curtains at a set time in the morning and we wake up *NATURALLY* without any alarms, feeling refreshed. My wife couldn't wake up til 10 or 11, now she is routinely up before 9 feeling refreshed. Me as well! Now for the cons. I almost gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but the life improvement is so great it overrides the cons. It's a little tricky to install properly. We have a 5/8 inch wide curtain rod, which is the max it can accept. The device has a VERY VERY firm grip on our curtain rod. So much so, that when I first installed it, it made some clicking sounds even in quiet mode, that I would wake up from (I'm very sensitive to sounds). What I found is that the little metal hooks with rollers that it hangs from are *bendable* somewhat. I managed to finagle its grip to be slightly less than it was, and now it doesn't click. A good improvement the company could make would be to add some way to adjust the tightness that doesn't involve anxiety that the user might void the warranty :) And also engineer it so it cannot make clicking sounds even if it is tight. But I got it finagled. So basically, if you can persevere through a few frustrations in the installation process, this product can change your life and health. So 5 stars. It was worth the mild frustration. :)

Favoloso !
