If I remove the money clip will everything else still be functional

The bolt that attaches the clip also holds the blade and frame together, so you probably can't remove the money clip without the knife becoming disassembled. Even if easily removing the clip were possible, I'd recommend against it since putting uour thumb or fingers on the clip lets you manipulate the knife so you can open and close woth one hand.

Can the money clip be removed and a split ring key ring be added?

The clip could be removed but you'd probably need to add a washer or two to keep the blade sturdy. The same screw that holds the blade on also holds the money clip. A split D ring will fit in the hole near the bottle opener.

About 7/8". Blade thickness is about a 1/16"

No, not made in the USA. But, Coast is an awesome US company that makes great quality value priced knives with a lifetime warranty. Also, I own this knife and it’s a bit of a novelty—basically a funky little box cutter & bottle opener.
