Akro-Mils 40228 Replacement Dividers for 19228 Steel Storage Cabinet, Pack of 25,Black

These are plastic dividers that fit the bins they are designed for. A little pricy but worth it if you want more usable storage space.

This is the exact fit and finish if you need it for your storage drawers, fit identically to the existing ones we had.

There is a part 40-228 3 that is 0.105 inch across the locking T flange. There is also a 40-228 7 that is 0.125 inch across the flange, with a much thicker flange. The original cabinet came with the “3” part. When I ordered more dividers I got the “7” part. They are NOT interchangeable !!

I bought these as extra dividers for a 19-228 cabinet with 20-228 drawers which I originally purchased in the 1990's. As others have stated, these newer dividers don't fit all drawers. Apparently Akro-Mils must have changed the design over the years. The dividers have a triangular-shaped lip or edge on both sides which slide or "dovetail" into triangular grooves molded into the sides of the drawers and hold the divider firmly in place. The triangular lips on the 1990-vintage dividers are around 0.101" wide and about 0.040" deep. The new dividers have a triangular lip which is 0.125 to 0.128" wide and 0.080" deep. That is why they don't fit properly in older drawers. If you buy these for an older cabinet, be prepared to rework them. I haven't bought any cabinets since the 1990's, so I don't know if these newer dividers fit newer drawers any better.Also, Amazon advertises these as 25 pieces per pack, but the two packs I received only had 24 dividers in each, which is apparently the standard package size from Akro-Mils (according to their website). So you will be short-changed if you buy these from Amazon.
