Bartoline TX10 Paint and Varnish Stripper 5L – Extra Strong, Non-Caustic Paint Remover for Wood, Metal & More

Firstly, it's necessary to familiarise with the product description and instruction of use for your own safety and satisfaction from the product. Product is emitting low odour, which is good for sensitive surroundings if working inside. It's slimy-gelly consistency helping to stay on vertical surfaces quite well. In low temperatures its performance can be low and may require longer time to start acting on painted surfaces, and it may be required to repeat it's application more than once. Applied layer must not be thin as it will dry quickly and/or will be absorbed by old paint and will become significantly less effective. Any surfaces covered by multiple layers of paint will require more repeats of its application for complete paint removal. It will work on variety of paint types with different level of performance. Some old paints will be completely dissolved whilst the others might be just softened enough for easy removal with, for example, spatula or similar tool. Do not expect lightning fast effects, it needs time to do it's job. Be aware that it may damage badly composite and plastic materials, including synthetic clothes. May cause discoloration of many materials. So far I have used it for paint removal from the floor wooden skirting, old wooden doors, and from metal flower stand. It did great job as well while cleaning some automotive parts as it removed stubborn dirt from the engine block and from the gearbox. Overall, I think that the size of bottle is wisely chosen for DIY jobs. And the results make it worth the money paid for. Yes, some types of paint may be difficult to remove. But it will work on most well.

Decided to try this out on an old stove , in our house we are renovating. The previous owners had dabbled in paint in it and I wanted to see the original colour. Product work very well - Added pictures for process . After leaving for 1 hour it literally wiped away. Bare in mind different materials have different outcomes. I did vover with cling film to keep moisture in. I would recommend this product. No odour , no drips , no faff ! I bought the smaller bottle just in case, however would repurchase. Going to get to repainting this stove in a more traditional palette.

Delivered as expected - will be looking forward to using it to clean up old paint ! 5 Stars. UPDATE: Really enjoyed using the Bartoline stripper to clean up over-paint on windows by the painter ! ( I really don't know why the painter just couldn't wipe off over-paint whilst painting window frames ! Anyway, the Bartoline Paint and Varnish Stripper has done the job well ! Just applied liberally with a clean paint brush where required on the windows... Left the paint and varnish stripper to work for about five to ten minutes... Then scraped off with a scraper to remove the paint ( came away easily ), and where I couldn't get in with a scraper I worked the area with a clean new disposable scouring pad to remove the paint... Wiped off as much of the stripper as I could with clean kitchen towel paper from the windows, and then cleaned the windows with a good window cleaner... Job done and paint free windows ! Well worth the effort !!

Bought to remove paint off of a rim lock and although it cut through a few layers, it just didn’t have the power to remove every layer. Had to redo it three times to get down to metal. Was easy to use, cleaning with water was a bit of a pain and the strength is relatively weak so wouldn’t buy again. Would use Klingstrip instead!

It doesn't work on first application *like some people said worked for them) but did after a second one (as per instructions). Doesn't stinky, easy to apply. Unfortunately won't be enough to finish the project (I bought the largest size, which is good value) but I will buy it again

TDLR- it’s useless don’t bother I brought that paint remover to remove paint on a tomahawk head for a customisation job. It was soak for 3hrs30min and did nothing at all… Utterly useless! The worst part is that it is a cheap paint and even using a metallic scrubber didn’t remove much paint at all after over 3hrs of soaking in the paint remover. Very weak product that works only on some type of paints but not even sure which ones. Don’t bother there are way better alternatives out there. The instructions on the tin are comical - apply one layer for 1hour and maybe apply another layer if required for another hour. The thing was literally soaking in it for over 3 hours for NO visible results. I won’t ever buy a product from that brand again. 1/10 and I can’t even do a return as I brought it 6 months ago 😭

This stuff is amazing. First time stripping a piece of furniture and it went like a dream. I was removing waxed chalk paint. I followed the instructions which said to apply thick and leave for an hour. I only had to apply one coat on the majority of the piece but did apply cling film in some places to help but even where I didn’t it didn’t dry out after the hour. Gloopy enough to not drip so didn’t have to lay the furniture flat. Didn’t use the whole bottle so have enough left to do a corner cabinet so great value for money.
