july-2026 My venerable 32 bit Windows XP computer was misteriously hibernateing to disk .the bios was gracefully shutting me down this explained alot but none the less i did check with the system log and checked the temps. The venerable and fully functional platform had a overheating problem .takeing the laptop cover off the single core celuron cpu was not glued down to the alumynume heatsinker.and the fan turned on only if you spun it by hand So I carefully cleaned the top of the plastic cpu case with a scraper as the dust from the white berrillium paste is 100% cancerous if you breathe the dust so very very careful ---------(As bad as asbestos)---------- then a isopropyl wipe and was very careful not to get alcahol on any metal pins or parts as it is highly corrosive and will form a short circuit across high impedance circuit traces if not instantly then for sure over time. So i applied this creamy goo with a spachula kinda like putting betty crocker chokolate icing on a cake and i wasnt very concerned about berilium in the new paste. threw it all back together and installed a salvaged fan from the junk pile and viola no hybernaing to disk any more all in all worth the maybe 7 minutes of repair *************************** second my solar charger burnt up a transistor so i followd the same procedure as above and glued a new mosfet down and now i got power to charge my fone and ebike and run my central air conditioner all day long or even cook a pot of ricearony for the week <<<<< power power power >>>>> definately worth the 3 minute repair job as a new werchtey is 35 bucks and nolonger on amazion one tubeo grease down and still have another tube of grease left so bring on the problems

Yep. I had to replace the keyboard on my laptop, which meant it was also a good excuse to repaste it. And boy, my laptop's old paste had basically turned into a pseudo thermal pad, so it needed it. Finger condoms? Looked cute, but I didn't use them. Wipes? Didn't notice them until I had already finished cleaning the CPU die and heat sink with some PEC pads and rubbing alcohol I already had on-hand. Spreaders? I honestly didn't even know it was supposed to come with those. The tubes came in what looked like a basic plastic sandwich, but it was a blister pack! After dealing with that nightmare, I had to remove what was the most stubborn heat shrink plastic wrap I've ever seen. Despite all of that, the actual application went incredibly smoothly, with the syringes being very easy to control the flow rate of. It was a breeze to use this.
