Empire of the Damned: Empire of the Vampire, Book 2

This book is everything!!
The way I read this book as slowly as possible. I didn’t want it to end and I was also terrified of the pain Jay Kristoff was going to inflict on me. The first painful hit came around page 257 in my book. I sobbed and proceeded to flip my book off, all mature like, and then sobbed some more. I have to say, one thing that Jay has done a remarkable job of, is writing grief. That grief of a child is so big, and knowing it first hand, for someone to write it so well is something I appreciate. This book as a whole is masterfully written. Empire of the Empire became a favorite for me after I read it, but I agree with the general consensus, Empire of the Damed is even better. Jay keeps you on your toes and constantly bracing for the next painful hit to come. He also cause a bit of frustration at times as well. Like this one moment with Phoebe that Jean-Francois got frustrated with, I never related to him more than right then. Cause be so for real! And when you think there can’t possibly be anymore surprises you read the last sentence and think, what in the actual…. Leaving you with the need to demand book three right now because how could you end it like that?! So if you like an epic fantasy book with all the twist and turns that could shock you, you need this book!

Such a Stellar Read
This 717 page beauty took me a few days to get through, but it was worth every darn minute! It was heartfelt, bada**, and shocking. We get some serious character building in this one, and it was such a joy witnessing Gabriel and Dior and all the characters, fighting as one for a goal yet mysterious. This one ends on a pretty insane cliffhanger, so after you silently say,” WTF,” you’ll find yourself scrabbling to find out when you can expect book three.Overall, a really fantastic read, and I’m excited to get my hands on the next one!

Another great one
Wow I loved this book I think it was better than the first one (hear me out) Gabriel became more likable, there was more action to keep us in our toes more thrill more horror and a lot of anticipation. I am yet to figure out Celine what is she about. I can't wait for book 3. The best book I have read so far this year.

Great read, but book quality isn’t the greatest.
The book is great so far I’m 3/4 of the way done. The reason for the 4 stars is the quality of paper quality of the book. The pages are extremely thin and I’ve already slightly tare one page when turning a page and the humidity has caused them to warp. I’m assuming this was done to make the book smaller and save on printing cost, but I would have preferred the thicker pages most books have.

No Words
I have no words to describe this book (as well as book one of the series). Mr. Kristoff has created an intricate world that I did not want to leave, bloody and beaten though I feel. I will wait patiently to reunite with our Silversaint and San Dior

Well, f .... My face!
Don't know what that means ? Read this book! Want something dark, twisted and filled with countless bodycounts? Read this book! Unbelievable follow up to the first novel and well worth the wait. Mr. Kristoff has created an epic story filled with developed and unique characters in a dark and desolate world that is relentless in its brutality. Kudos for continuing the theme from the first book and upping the volume.

No spoilers - I loved this book so much
After reading Empire of the Vampire, and absolutely loving it, I waited and waited and waited (not patiently) for the sequel. Hoping against hope that the incredible story wouldn’t fizzle out and that it would be just as good as the first. Well, it exceeded my expectations! I couldn’t put it down! So many twists and turns, so much is revealed, so much history is explored! I loved reading all the different points of view in this one and it is so well written. The characters are well fleshed out and real. They do dumb things, they do amazing things - they have history and personality. The villains are terrifying and horrible. The good guys are still villainy, but they try to do better. I want things to work out for Gabriel and Dior so much. I think Celine is so so cool, but so horrible - I want to know more about her.I wonder if the little mouse named Armand is a nod to Armand in Anne Rice’s amazing Vampire Chronicles - she is the queen of vampire fiction after all.The ending gives you enough to not be annoyed that you have to wait for the next one, but instead excited for what is to come.I’ve read a hell of a lot of books in my 41 years of life and this series is in my top 5, possibly even my favourite ever.I wish I could go back in time a few days and read it again for the first time
