Fire stick is the way to go!
I’ve been really happy with my Fire Stick. It was quick to set up, and the interface is easy to navigate, even if you’re not very tech-savvy. I love having all of my streaming apps in one place, and the picture quality is great with very little buffering when connected to a good Wi-Fi signal. The voice remote is one of my favorite features because it makes searching for movies and shows much faster than typing everything out. The Fire Stick also receives regular updates and offers a wide variety of free and paid entertainment options. The only downside is that the home screen can feel a little cluttered with recommendations and ads, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. Overall, I’d definitely recommend the Fire Stick to anyone looking for an affordable and reliable streaming device. It offers excellent value for the price and has made watching TV much more convenient.

Much faster and it is worth the MAX's faster CPU version for even at 1080P.
I had a much older Firestick and my son complained about how laggy it was. OK, should I get another one for the Panasonic TC-P50ST60 50" plasma 1080P TV set? I ended up getting the 4K MAX version not for 4K or the larger memory but the faster quad core CPU to maybe keep the laggy nature at bay. The price difference was worth the trial. Boy did that work! The response is near immediate and movies and such start very quickly. I use the CAT6 connection on the router, not 6e. Setting up was a little rough as it would not connect at 5G no matter how I tried. DO NOT go mess with your router yet and screw up all your other 5G connections! Use the 2.4G for set-up instead. That was going well until it asked for a PRIME TV PIN. Where's that? It's been awhile. The web site given for help; AMAZON.com/pin was no help, it tried to sell me literal sweing pins off AMAZON! No amount of effort found where the PIN can be reset. We finally figured out the old PIN, but if that wasn't the case, we'd have had to call to find something as simple as resetting a PIN for the video account. Back to the AWOL 5G. Part if the snappiness is the fastest wi-fi for movies. Well, as odd as it seems and with no changes at all to the router (nothing else has issues connecting) I retried to connect to 5G once I was all done with the set-up using 2.4G and...now 5G works. You also get the better router security with wi-fi 5G too. 2.4G uses the older security for legacy stuff. In a nut shell, remember your video security parental control PIN and...if it acts up connecting to 5G use the 2.4G and then after set-up is done retry your 5G. Worked for me. Once all done it's a responsive and fast 1080P streaming stick. No user experience with 4K. These go on and off sale all the time so wait a bit for a sale. Observe the price history to see about where the price falls historically. The pushed ads aren't really too much of a problem. They are there but hey, they do want to make money somehow and the firesticks are sold as a loss to sell video services. No way can you really sell this for thirty bucks and make money on the device.

Good upscaling but you may need to adjust audio settings on tv (updated 07/2026)
3rd and hopefully final update: two says after technical support help the issues serm to be cleared and was most likely due to a ln issue with one or more updates. Firestick itself back to five stars but updates, which had to be installed one at a time by technical support, need to be addressed. 2nd update for 07/2026: Tried to do a factory reset and system froze. Called Amazon customer service. Appthe return window ended months ago. Talked to two very nice and helpful representatives, one in the technical side. We were anle to do a factory reset after and it may or may not have worked. Hulu app in home screen looks different and according to the representative there was a system update a week ago when all this occurred. Too soo to tell but as I have an upgraded Hulu icon and a Spanish Amazon icon (not neede) that were not there previously,it could be the update around 06/26 was corrupted or incomplete. Hopefully it worked but if not I may need a new firestick. In any event I have to give kudos for the help I received today. Updated 07/2026: Changed from five stars to two stars hoping that I have a bad device and a new one will help get it back to five stars again. The firestick had glitches once in a while from day one where it would loose live tv favorites or I would see "no input found" on the screen but it would eventually be recognized by the tv. The last week however was worse than ever. I had to restart each day, I tried different ports, tried connecting through ethernet and wifi. Sometimes it would connect, sometimes not. Sometimes rebooting the wifi would help. I have no issues with other devices. Now it is freezing when I put on a streaming service. When it works it works well and it is up to date. I even tried with the HDMI extender to no avail. According to the Amazon app I have until the end of the year to return it but when I try it doesn't give the option. I will have to call when I can to try to get a replacement. End of 07/2026 update. I purchased the firestick 4k max to upgrade a 2022 4k Fire tv mainly because I wasn't sure how much longer the system support would be and to upscale content. With regards to upscale;and I'm not sure if I can mention names but here you go: I watched season 1 of American Gods" on Prime Video and it looked great. To watch season 2 & 3, I had to watch through Tubi, which does not stream in 4K or 1080. At first it didn't seem like there was much upscaling but afyer a few minutes (not sure how many) it improved dramatically (and I like what both streamers have to offer). The only downside, and of course the internet had many solutions, some of which did nothing. My soundbar with dolby dts-x, while perfectly compatible with my fire tv was having audio drop out issues with the firestick. The problem appears as resolved by going to the fire tv audio settings and change it to "pass through" while leaving the firestick on "best available". All in all, I'm pleased with the firestick and purchasing on sale during the black Friday sales was definitely a plus.

Good replacement for slow built-in TV software
This was one of the best purchases I’ve made for my TV. My TV’s built-in interface had become incredibly slow and frustrating to use, but the Fire TV Stick 4K completely fixed that problem. Everything loads much faster, apps run smoothly, and navigating between streaming services is effortless. The setup took only a few minutes, and now my TV feels brand new without having to replace it. The picture quality is excellent, and I haven’t experienced any lag issues. If you’re tired of dealing with a slow smart TV menu, I highly recommend getting this Fire TV Stick 4K.

Firestick, a bug or two, related services have issues. Pay to watch, commercials, commercials, why?
The “Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max streaming device” Is a good streaming device, but it has a few shortcomings. This was my 5th fire stick over the years. The original models had bulletproof performance and were completely reliable. This model and the previous model tended to hang and needed to be unplugged frequently to be reset. They seem to have mostly eliminated that bug with the last software update. Unfortunately, the last update also had a bug that causes both of my major brand TVs to often change TV inputs when using voice commands for searching for programming. Especially troubling because the fire stick does not have an input button on the remote. This also means you’ll need to dig out the original TV remote to change the input back to the fire stick input, every time this happens, and it happens a lot if you use Alexa for fire stick. Connectivity with all fire sticks that I’ve had, even in troublesome areas, has been great. Full discloser, I’m in IT. The remotes on all models up to this one, are sadly deficient in tactile feel, which results in frequently hitting the wrong button. To my knowledge, all models up to this one do not have lighted buttons, but the battery life is much better because of that. The Fire stick will also alert you when the batteries are low. You cannot separate the fire stick from the included service, and that service is highly commercialized, you cannot get around that. The fire stick home screen is nonstop commercials and preview commercials, until it goes to screensaver mode, or you start to browse. Just because they can. If they are going to make you watch commercials for years, shouldn't they give you the fire stick. I personally believe that paying to watch commercials is idiotic, why would you do that? Amazon Prime also tends to have the worst video quality of all the popular video services that I’ve seen, and I’ve seen most. If you bought a fire stick, you almost certainly bought it on Amazon, and you almost certainly have Amazon Prime programing. Amazon Prime video service and their commercial sister station, that you cannot un-install, is extremely commercialized. Amazon uses that nu-installable sister station in some unsavory ways. I pay extra not to watch commercials. This service only stops about 10% of the commercials that you will see. If you do subscribe to the “no commercial service” you will need to immediately grab your remote at the beginning of many movies, and then hopefully hit the right button to skip the preview commercial within the allotted time. If you don’t hit the right button in the first few seconds, you lose the ability to skip the commercial that you paid not to watch. The programmers know that, and the commercials are structured with that in mind. Amazon Prime will go to almost any extent to get you to watch commercials, especially on series. Sometimes switching from included services to their commercial sister station, or PPV, the middle of a season, or in the middle of a movie, if you don’t watch that movie uninterrupted. After all that’s double income. You Pay for the service, and the sponsors pay them for the commercials. Amazon Prime video also tends to have the worst video quality out of all the popular video services that I’ve seen, and I’ve seen most. Pixelation and digital artifacts are a big problem, especially in older movies. It’s not my connection; I have gigabit internet. It’s not the video quality of the movies. I have seen most of them on other services. I won’t call this age discrimination, even though it might be interpreted as such. All in all, if they fixed the input bug, the hardware would be fantastic. The services are far too greedy, insisting that you pay to watch commercials.

Fire stick with more storage space.
This model is pretty much like the others except for having 4K and extra storage capacity. Also gaming but I’m not into that so I can’t comment. Seems to work well and as advertised. Costs a little bit more but seems to be worth it.

I should have bought this so long ago. Do not hesitate, get it.
If i knew the game changer this thing was, id have bought it as soon as it came out. I mean, the image is way sharper. It just processes so much better. And the remote, while it took me a few days for the damn programable buttons to stay programmed, its pretty swert. And i cant tell you how many times i lose my remote in my bed or around the room. I forget sometimes and start searching for it, and upon starting to get frustrared, id remember i can just ask alexa to find my remote and it starts beeping and to be honest, id be where i clearly looked too, so i might need glasses. On the meantime alexa saves the day, and i love bein able to see what im pressing instead of having to angle the remote so i can get light on the buttons. Now, we are talking more technology that ive ever been used to or could have asked for, so im currently dealing with an issue that wasnt an issue before. It suddently started and i havent been able to figure it out. When i turn my tv off with the max remote, both my fire tv and stick will shut off, first the tv and the still shortly after. I know cause you can still hear whatever waz playin on my echo speakers and then curs off, meanin its off. Well, now i cant get the stick to turn off, or ill get the stivk but not the tv. Its a nighmare. Im currently tellin alexa to turn the tv off, but that only shuts the stick, i used the original tv remote to just click it off. Imma get gemini to help me with that soon. But well worth it regarthless of my current situationship with the off dilema.
