Can one replace the core without removing the bike tire? fwiw, i have tube tires.

Yes, but if you are using tubes instead of tubeless, you need to make sure that your existing tube's core can be removed! If it is removable, you will see a flat spot on the end like the picture. You can use a tool or needle nose pliers to remove it. Eric

May sound silly but will these valve stems fit all prista cores ? In have a 48 mm valve stem

Yes. It should not be a problem fitting a 48 mm valve stem

will they work on a 42mm stem?

Yes! The core is agnostic of stem size or brand as long as it's a presta stem.

What is the screw size for the part that screws into the stem and for the dust cap screw?

According to wikipedia, both threads are 12-24. I looked at my valve cores and they do look bigger than #10. The threads for the dust cap are much deeper than the threads for the core. I do not have a way to measure them myself.
