Everything you need in one easy kit
The value you get with this kit is what sold me. You get the crimping tool, lots of pass through connectors, and a tester. Basically you have everything you need (aside from the actual cable) to create enough runs for the majority of peoples' homes. I wanted the ability to cut cables to length of each run as opposed to buying all the cables separately, which saved significantly a lot me in cost. I believe if you bought good quality cable at 1000ft (~$60 to my knowledge), this kit would save you money after maybe 6-9 runs and still have a lot of cable and connectors to spare in case you wanted to help out friends/family or a future PoE system. The tool worked great and the pass-through connectors were perfect for all 8 cables I made, though I understand that this is not a large sample size. The only issue I had was with the tester was that it would sometimes give me a false negative due to some bent/off pins. I contacted UbiGear and they were quick to respond and helped me get a replacement tester within a couple of days. My family's friend who works in telecommunications had extra cable and supplies that he gave us and in the box was the exact same crimper in case we needed it. That gave me more confidence that the crimper has the ability to function without failure after prolonged usage. The simplicity of having everything you need at a good price, the product working great, and the customer service being fantastic and easy inclines me to give this product my very high recommendation.

All you need for the average home networking project!
I used this kit to install my home surveillance system. The system comes cabled with RJ45 connectors for each camera, however I purchased my own cable, better quality, and boxed designed for easy pulling. While installing the surveillance system, I also pulled cable to hard-wire my computers for internet and installed an Ethernet switch...no more wifi...Do yourself a favor and wean off your wifi and get your through-put back. Its an amazing performance upgrade! ; )...Folks belly ache'n about bad/slow internet has crap'y wifi... My cable modem/router/gateway, whatever Comcast calls it, I call it...crap! I particularly like pass-through crimpers, less chance for for pin-out color-code errors and its just easier and quicker to make your plugs. The pin-out code is stamped on the crimper. I purchased two 500' box's of cat5e, pulled 16 cables used 895' made 32 plugs with no failures. I experienced no issues with the crimper, it made clean cuts each time with no wires hanging. It has a nice heavy feel with a smooth ratchet action. You do not need an $80 crimper for home projects! The cable tester, honestly, is the most important item in this kit, whether you make your own cables or have factory cabled plugs, test, test and test again. Mistakes are part of life, my wife says I was a mistake!...LOL...! Majority of connection issues with cameras, router, modem, internet will trace back to cabling. When trouble-shooting, test your cable first! You can spend hours, uninstalling/installing software, drivers, boot/reboot, scratching your a**, quoting various 3, 4 letter words, only to figure out, after finishing off a 6 pack of Coronas...it was a damned 3' Ethernet cable...yes...s*** happens, and at 69...I've seen and stood'n my share! I recommend this kit to anyone and would purchase again if needed. Happy cabling! ; )

PERFECT! Easy Use.
This may not be the absolute best piece of equipment for every day use, but really good for home use. The testing equipment helped me find over 50% of the builder installed terminals with an error! Just poor craftsmanship in their terminations, wrong wires in the wrong location. The tester was really helpful and the termination tool was great. I would recommend to others. I used a mix of connectors that came with the tool and some that I was provided by a friend. The pass through design is really helpful to double check your wire order prior to crimping.

good value for beginning kit, has all necessary tools.
like the crimper it crimped connectors and trimmed excess from ends in one go. the tester is most important piece of the kit and where it falls short, at least in the kit I received. there seems to be different testers that have been in past kits looking at other reviews due to battery type described. the issue I had with tester was it seemed to get stuck to cables after they were plugged in making it hard to remove the cables seemed to be some excess metal on sides that acted liked barbed fish hook and slightly dug into side of connectors, other wise items in kit worked as described. as far as nicking wires when stripping cables that is often case with any stripper I've used in past and why cables come with a nylon string in them to pull and strip further down cable. the connectors I received also worked fine in any ports I placed them in and locked in place just fine with its tab.

Works fine for occasional DIY
This is not professional grade equipment, but for the home user who occasionally terminates his/her own cables it works just fine. Note that the "cable tester" simply indicates wire continuity with an LED; there is no diagnostic or data throughput measurement capability. I had a cable that showed perfect continuity on all 8 conductors but yet still didn't work. I cut off one end that looked a little sketchy, used the crimper and connectors to install a new one and was back in business. The "passthrough" connectors make getting a good termination much easier.

Pro quality racheting crimper
Bought for my dad.. Here is his review. "I was impressed with the quality and feel of the RJ45 crimper. It is made out of steel, with cushion grips and has a ratcheting action so you know you have completed the crimp. I have seen other models similar to this in the big box stores that go for 2 or 3 times the price for just the crimper alone. This one comes with 50 pass through RJ45 connectors, a tester for RJ45 (Internet LAN cords) and RJ11 (RJ11 = telephone cords) as well as the crimper. Crimper will work with RJ45, RJ11 or RJ12 connectors. (But I have not had the need to use it for RJ11's yet, just RJ45's). The tester comes in 2 pieces joined together, but they separate so you can test longer cords, even if the ends are in different rooms. Requires a 9v battery which does not come with it. I have used it several times and was able to make clean, professional looking connections. Very happy with the purchase!!"

Great tool! Wish I bought it sooner!
Finally had a chance to re-ran all of my ethernet cables throughout the house. This tool made it super easy! Before, we used a manual crimp tool and that was a PIA. This made terminating the cable a breeze and saved us and hour or so vs the traditional method. Well worth it the time savings, especially after spending a day in the attic.

Worked perfectly
I've done a bit of CAT5 wiring over the years and the hardest part is setting up the male connector plugs. My eyes aren't great and it's hard to see that you put the wires in in the right order. The pass-through connectors make that so much easier and this gizmo does the trick. You put the wires in so they stick out 1/2 inch or so and you can inspect them before crimping. And when you crimp, it cuts off any extra wire you had sticking out. I haven't used any other pass-through crimping tools, but this one worked fine and was well worth the money even though I already had a sounder (cable tester) and didn't need the one that came in this package.
