THE POINTER SISTERS were one of the most successful femalegroups the music industry has seen with 18 Top 20 hit singlesand 10 top 40 albums shared between the US Pop and R&Bcharts. In 1982 the Grammy award-winning sisters released theRichard Perry produced, So Excited, on Planet Records. TheSisters were backed by members of the band TOTO on thealbum.SO EXCITED features such classics as the top 20 hit, AMERICANMUSIC and the hugely popular title track, I M SO EXCITED,written by Anita, June and Ruth Pointer with the album sAssociate producer Trevor Lawrence. I'M SO EXCITED reachedthe Billboard Top 30 but later went on to become the group smost recognizable Top Ten hit when a remix featured on thetriple platinum selling follow up album BREAK OUT.Also included are the Dance hit IF YOU WANNA GET BACK YOURLADY and the group s popular rendition of Prince s I FEEL FORYOU which would became a huge hit for Chaka Khan two yearslater.SO EXCITED reached #24 on the Billboard R&B album chart andbecame a huge catalogue seller for the group in the mideighties.BBR introduces the original full version of SO EXCITEDfor the first time on CD. This edition features extensive linernotes with interviews from Anita ands Ruth Pointer and Remixedbonus tracks.

So exciting reissue!
Released now alongside the amazing SPECIAL THINGS album from 1980, this 1982 album is another overlooked classic from the group. Sandwiched between their huge selling Black & White and Break Out albums, it was a moderate seller when released. That is a great shame because it is full of tracks that should have been hit singles for the group such as their version of I Feel For You, Heart To Heart, See How The Love Goes and Heart Beat (eventually the B-Side of Jump).The remastering is a real improvement on the now rare original CD. This CD also features the original mix of If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady which was accidental left off the original CD.It's so interesting to hear the original synthy album mix of I'm So Excited now and compare it with the fantastic 12" Mix which here as a bonus cut along with the 12" mix of If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady. The packaging is wonderful and has amazing pictures and interviews.Highly recommended reissue from a wonderful group. Five stars!!!!!

Reaching their peak
Trapped between the success of the girls' "Black and White" album and coming just before the seminal "Breakout", "So Excited" didn't do as well as expected on release. I remember little or no publicity for this and here in the UK at least, hardly any TV appearances. The first single off the album in the US was the rather weak "American Music", which for me is my least favourite track. There are so many other gems on here, but the failure to publicise "I'm so excited" when this CD was initially released is unforgiveable. Instead, it was re-released after the phenomenal success of the singles from "Breakout", became a huge hit and was added to that album as well.There are some superb tracks on here, showcasing Anita, Ruth & June's amazing vocal dexterity, personal favourites being "I'm so excited", "All of you" and "If you wanna get back your lady", which was the single that never was. BBR have also worked their magic on the remastering, which is sublime as are the liner notes. All this as well as the extra tracks makes this CD reissue one I would heartily recommend to anyone who loves gold standard soulful/pop music.
