Received a replacement- first one was used. New, in good box. Good quality. Blade adjustment comes out for easy cleaning, which is a big plus. Instructions are straightforward. It appears wide enough for whole apple or onion. Haven’t tried it yet.

Took me a while but I finally fell in love with this sliver. I was replacing an old Pampered Chef mandolin and was really a hard sell. For the price this is a great slicer. It works great to slice all veggies (I have not tried tomatoes) and the Julianne cuts are great to for any root vegetables. Very solid and cuts very even slices. I love the bonus of the slicing gloves as not all veggies (ie. Carrots) are easy to use the slicing guard. Definitely happy with the purchase. Legs raise the slicer and it sits firmly on the counter or cutting board. Legs fold for easy storage. Half of the slicing surface flips up for easy cleaning and there is a blade guard for storage. Only this I wish it had was a way to store the slicing guard attached to the slicer itself.

This thing is really sharp. It cuts so effectively you are not sure it is working, until you see the vegetables getting smaller on each stroke. The box was damaged because the thing isn’t packed very well. The box could be bigger. But the tool works really good. I made pickles, squash casserole, and scalloped potatoes with ease.

This was purchased for a first attempt at making Chicago Italian Beef. We were able to get very thin slices of meat. The gloves were very helpful as was the guard piece that was used to hold the meat. There is also a cover piece for the blade which we put on when this was in the sink so no one would accidentally cut themselves. It held up to slicing 5 pounds of braised beef. The most important thing is there were NO injuries. The gloves, the guard and the blade cover are the three best features, imho. It was washed in the dishwasher and came out perfect. FIL was against using a Mandoline, but after watching us slicing the meat, he asked to borrow it. Very happy with this purchase, especially safety features.

This thing worked perfectly. It's so sharp, clean, and easy to use. I'm glad it came with a blade guard for storing it. The dial on the side really makes finding the perfect size a snap! I got this to make eggplant rollatini and the slice were spot on, even and the thickness desired. Exactly what I needed and it got here quickly. Only complaint I have is that the box it came in was practically open when it got to me, but that might have been the shipping service.

It's stainless and pretty and feels solid however I do wish it had come with some directions. Granted, a mandolin is pretty self explanatory to use - slide veggies back and forth to slice, right? Well, the first thing I did was to slice off bits of the vegetable 'holder' because I was holding it wrong. Be aware, there is an arrow on the dark colored plastic that shows the direction to slide it back and forth. I didn't notice the arrow and nice thin slices of the black plastic bottom of it ended up mixed in with my carrots. It wasn't difficult to pick them out so no real harm, except I'm pretty sure the plastic nicked the blade in a couple places. So, right out of the gate, my new mandolin is damaged by me. A quick start booklet would have prevented it -- yes, I do read those when I'm unfamiliar with a new gadget. I've used it many times since and it works well and is a good value for the price. I do recommend this product. Four stars for my reasons stated above. **Edit: This seller took care of my problem without me asking. They sent a replacement mandolin. I am extremely happy and have changed my review to 5 stars!

I like this slicer for cutting straight vegetables. It stands up nice and well so I don't have to worry about it shifting or falling down on me, and the front guide has a lot of options for thickness which I love. The only part I don't like is the julienne blade. It rotates into place really easily, but it doesn't have a good stop for it so when I'm cutting potatoes for fries it will work on the first pass (maybe two) but it soon gets pushed backwards and out of place so then your not cutting fries, you're just slicing the potatoe. Over all, for slicing vegetables it works great and I like it, but it's terrible for cutting French fries.
