About the Author My machine knitting began 50 years ago in 1960 after a demonstration by a friend on her new knitting machine. My first machine was bought when I saw the possibilities of being able to knit various designs into a sweater or dress much faster than I could by hand. By 1965 I began designing my first Norwegian sweaters, two of which are in this book. As the years went by I had numerous requests to write a book featuring the patterns and designs that had been in Style Shows in Seattle. Ten books were written before injuries from a bad auto accident in 1991 stopped my designing and machine knitting for many years. This past year I started designing and machine knitting again. The mistakes I made as a beginning machine knitter were made again. With the help of one of my best friends, June Fitzpatrick, I was able to work through them.
