I don’t normally do watercolours; well not since I was 16 (and dinosaurs still ruled the Earth :-). I normally use gouache or an airbrush and acrylic ink, but decided to have a bash at watercolours. I didn’t want to splash out a fortune and then decide that watercolours are not for me and these are very reasonably priced. There are 25 colours, which is far more than I will ever need and given my admitted lack of familiarity with these things, they seem excellent to me. There is an area in the lid divided into nine sections for mixing colours, but it is too small to be really useful, in my opinion. I use a dinner plate as a palette, a 1 ½ inch brush, a ¾ inch brush and a “rigger”, a huge bowl of water and a cloth to dry out brushes and 300gsm (cold press) watercolour paper. I am not ever going to be on landscape artist of the year, but am enjoying sploshing lots of washes on with huge brushes. So if like me you are curious about watercolours and not prepared to splash out £110 on some Sennelier Watercolours, I can thoroughly recommend these.

These are perfect! Wonderfull quality and so cheap! Fantastic colour range that is increased with the inclusion of the white tube of paint. Will be buying these again in future!

Getting back into art this was perfect water colour palette to just muck around with. It is not the best quality, but very good for the price. I was very pleased with it and would recommend for adults & children!

Very pleased with this item. Usually use tube watercolours but wanted something easily portable to use outside and when time is limited. The colours are great and I have had good results. For the price, a real bargain.

Bought for our granddaughter on her third birthday. She likes to paint, which in her case means getting the biggest brush possible and loading it up with plenty of water, then soaking the paper with what very quickly turns out to be a brown wash. So the paints are fine for that. The problem is that they are too loose in the plastic holders, and already several have made their way out. The lid has also snapped off from the base, and it isn't because she's been rough with them because she is always supervised.From what little use I've made of them myself, helping her to do her colouring, the quality of the paint itself is perfectly ok for children. I'm no artist so I can't say as to whether it would be ok for somebody older who wants to learn watercolor painting. (But I suspect not.) My criticism is of the construction of the box and the holders, although for what it costs it's acceptable enough.

It is too bad the two other reviewers didn't say more. I have to say that for a budget kit this is really a bargain. The colours are vibrant and I had no trouble with mixing. Some of the deeper colours have a gouache-like opacity, so a little goes a long way. The palette-lid had a couple of nice touches. It comes on and off easily for cleaning, and the surface of the wells is roughened, which is great if you want to use it to mix watercolour pencils by drawing right on the surface then moistening. The pans are not of the standard type, but all can be removed and ordered as you wish, or, when empty, replenished with whatever tube colour you like. A great set for kids and beginners, and for the price I have no complaints. I do suspect that this it is not that much different from the Arteza for Kids set, also available on Amazon for a bit less.
