Krusteaz Complete Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix, Light & Fluffy, 5 lb Bags (Pack of 6)

I've made my own pancake batter since I was a child. All from scratch! I've been having a lot of medical problems so I bought the large box of Krusteaz Buttermilk pancake mix. It works out great. Just add water to the mix. DON'T OVER MIX. Pancakes will come out thin. Don't turn your pancakes over to the other side until there are a lot of bubbles and when bubbles break open the mix is not filling in with more mix. I gave my daughter, also with medical problems, half of the boxes of Krusteaz boxes. She has been using even more Krusteaz pancakes than I do!! They are fluffy, tastes great, and fast when you don't have much times, or, don't feel well. Thank you, Krusteaz!!!!

Happily discovered this brand several years ago and have been buying ever since. We add an egg to the mix for extra protein. We also use carbonated water or sometimes diet lemon-lime soda instead of plain water for extra lift. This size package (3.5 lbs.) is a real bargain at less than $1 a pound. My only complaint is of the packaging. The coated paper package is less durable than the plastic pouch the 5# size comes in and it is not well sealed. One of my packages arrived leaking out some of the mix. Once you open the bag, you will either have to repackage in a sealable container or use a clip to keep the package closed.

This is the only pancake mix my husband uses. It's easy and tastes great.

Yummy yummy! Good value. Had these with diced strawberries mixed in yesterday. Also yummy with pureed tart apple, fried up with a little butter and cinnamon and then added to the mix. nom nom nom. Have used this brand before and never had a problem. Decided the bigger bag was a better value and just poured it in a storage bag inside an empty big coffee container to help protect it and keep it fresh as I don't eat pancakes all that much. As always save the original packaging if you do this. (The reason I mention storage is because it's not good to have pancake mix sitting around in an improperly sealed box or bag for long periods of time. I've had enough bad experiences with mold to feel moved enough to share this here because this is the "family size" package that might end up sitting in your cabinet for a few months at least. I've heard horror stories of people getting sick from mold toxin because just enough moisture slowly built up and mold grew, and it wasn't easily noticeable, probably in part because of the consistency of the powdery medium not being a solid surface like you might notice mold on cheese for example. Knowing what I know about mold, it's probably not all that common, but if the box or bag sits around long enough in a moist climate without being COMPLETELY sealed it might just be enough to allow slow growth of just the wrong kind of mold. What makes the nasty mold dangerous is the toxins it releases over time. So just do yourself a favor and invest in a storage container (or use a big Folger's plastic "can" with a storage bag, like I did) and keep your floury substances away from moisture and storage in a well-sealed container.) On a happy note, forget doing these pancakes injustice with fake "maple" syrup. If you are willing to spend more than a dollar on a cup of coffee, why put junk on your pancakes?
