Hex Weave & Mad Weave: An Introduction to Triaxial Weaving

Not the info I wanted
Most of this book is spent on explaining how to do Hex Weave. Triaxial weaving (Mad Weave in this book) is explained as combining Hex Weave projects. In other words you have to weave Hex Weave projects first and then integrate them together using additional weaving strips. I was looking for project ideas for triaxial weaving without doing Hex weave. This book is not that.

Best Book on the Topic
To say this is the best book for instructions on triaxial weaving isn't saying much since little is written about it. Even YouTube has very little regarding step by step instructions. However, this is as informative and instructional as I've found. My friend and I addicted to triaxial weaving despite the immense amount of frustration encountered with each new pattern variation. This book has done the most to get us out of the weeds and keep us from pulling our hair out. Perhaps this is one of those crafts that simply cannot be put into words but has to be learned hands on. I envy anyone who has taken an in-person class to learn triaxial weaving. However, without this book I might have given up.And I think reviewer T Jaye should rent out her mathematician husband. I know I'd pay!!!

Super helpful resource, and my go-to book right now!
I got into weaving homemade fabric bias strips on my own several months ago, before finding this book. As part of that journey, I made a triaxial weave purse. The process was (for me) extremely difficult and stressful. I found this book at the library because I was looking for some instructions that might help me do another triaxial weave, but without the tears. I ended up buying this book and very highly recommending it to anyone and everyone who has liked my fabric weaving. I am a barely sentient being, and I can weave with the best of them - thanks to this book!

Wonderful techniques and inspiration for your own creations
This is a well illustrated book about 2-dimensional hex weave and mad hex weave. Illustrations are created with narrow strips of paper, ribbon, etc. After showing how to do the structure, color and weave effects are shown. Design methods, finishing methods are well illustrated. Hex weave interlaces 3 sets of elements and is not constructed on a loom. Methods for creating this weave structure are illustrated and simplified. Wonderful techniques and inspiration for your own creations.

A great addition to any crafter's library!
I have to admit a bias as my sister is one of the authors. I love the format of this book. I actually feel like I could tackle one of these projects despite having no experience in weaving. I do a lot of crafting so I appreciate clear, well-written instructions.

I love the designs
I love the designs, but feel like I'm missing just a little information on how to use cotton fabric to create them.

Excellent intro to the subject
I still have to get comfortable with this book but I like this book for its introduction to colour in mad weave design. Take note that the projects in this book are all two dimensional.
