VFD Vector Single to 3-Phase Converter, for Motor Speed Control,220-230V Input/Output(5.5KW-7.5HP Model)

I received a defective 7.5KW VFD. I contacted Amazon for warranty support, and Amazon directed me to Huanyang. I contacted Huanyang, and after a brief exchange of steps to debug and the results, Huanyang agreed to send me a replacement unit. The replacement arrived within a couple of days of our exchange. The replacement works perfectly. Time will tell if it holds up, but I am very pleased with the support I received. There are mixed reviews of this unit, but most problems seem to be evident right out of the box or upon initial powerup. That was true in my case - unit reset itself randomly right out of the box. This replacement is working as expected, so I am hoping it stays that way. There are more expensive options, and there are also cheaper options, but I really like the features and function of this box so, fingers crossed.

At this price, I can't believe it work and work fine. I did get this one for a hydraulic system 7.5HP 230V/460V. 3phases to run on 230v split-phase (or single phase if you like better, same thing) Scotchman 90T Ironworker. I did add the remote control to have the drive control in my face and the AC drive way in the back where nothing can hit-it or chip getting inside. It work flawlessly or almost. I usually use the Mitsubishi drive but the remote was a nice thing on this one at 1/4 of the price. I didn't expect-it to work, but I'm please about-it for the price. It's not all good, there's few draw-back and limitation that make-it limited depend on the application. As expected the instruction S#<k and very confusing. The ground is not clearly identify and the connection strip pin identification different in the book... Yes RST and UVW are clear, Ro and R1 are probably for a resistor that doesn't work, be back on this. And the first "ES" or "E" or connector"1" (depend where you look) is the ground, Frame, Earth and should be green... No the dynamic break doesn't work, it's an option. In my case, it's fine but if you drive a cutting tool and you need to stop fast, look for that option or an other drive that include that option and pay few more big one... The software and parameters set-up is good but instructions s#<k and will confused you. I'm not sure if it's me but couldn't have the pot (Speed control) working when I have an external E-Stop install?!?! And the last thing (more like bitching) that nosy little fan, it work all the time and it is load in little fan goes. There's a parameter that set-it to start at a certain temperature but mine turn on when the power is on and turn off when the power is off no matter if I have-it on temperature control... No need to add a light to tell me the machine is under power ;-) Oh I forgot the split phase issue / 3ph intake, again confusing. In the book, it clearly say to use-it on 3 phases and is not listed as being a single phase. There selection say split phase, on the web and video say split ph. in reality, single phase geos to R and T and S have nothing. My 5.5KW draw like 45Amps "Stall" 230VAC and give me a nice 21Amp 3ph. Hey what can I expect for that price... It's working... In my application it's fine but not a 5*. The price make-it better then adding a contactor and over-load and give you allot of controls, power less wiring and more versality. It's a must-have on almost any machines 3 phases. Yes I recommend-it but not for an application that require increase safety or a quoit application …

Originally ordered a Mollom VFD that was DOA. Instructions were next to none and there was nothing on the internet about them. After an hour of frustration I decided to box the unit up and return it. I ordered this Huanyang and I had it set up in less than 5 minutes. It has an easy user interface and easy to program. The instructions were light years better than the Mollom instruction but, they still has some information missing and or confusing to understand. This unit has a lot of third party videos on how to set it up which ended up answering the questions that were either confusing or missing in the instruction manual. I'm not sure on the longevity but right out of the gate its a winner in my book. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a 3 phase VFD or to convert 1 phase into 3 phase for whatever equipment they are trying to run.

I have had the 7.5hp version running strong now for 2 months. Powers my mill and lathe, individually of course. Using 2 wire control option, I retained the use of my drum switches on both machines. This unit has TONS of features, most of which are CNC related which I don't need. Smooth acceleration/deceleration is easy on the motors. For my application and settings, stops fast so no need for braking resistor. As expected while motors are driven there is high frequency whine and fan noise, but it doesn't bother me at all. Fan does stop about 20-30 sec after load stops. Super adaptable to many usage scenarios. Instructions were 7/10, what was not clear in the instructions one can figure out with tinkering. We shall see how long it lasts, but so far it is not a gamble but a sure thing.

The instructions are in somewhat broken English but they are decipherable for the most part. The instructions suggest installing with an AC line reactor. This should prolong the life of the VFD and keeps your power more clean. The control panel can be removed from the drive but is quite difficult to put back in. Overall it has been a good value so far.

I use this VFD to run a three phase motor on my cnc mill. I run a 5HP motor with the 7.5HP VFD. I always up-size just a little to make sure I don't over-amp the VFD. It really does a great job and is not too difficult to get programmed and setup if you are familiar with using one. It may be a little difficult if you don't understand motors. I have purchased two of these and both have been working well. One is 2 years old and the other I have had for 3 months. So far so good.

Setup this drive on a 3hp 3phase 1340 lathe . Set the parameters to 60Hz and the lathe runs fine . 220volt single phase input . Factory Hz setting are 50Hz , you need to change to 60Hz for US utility's

I ordered two inverters one for a 2hp, and one for a 3hp motor, and they work awesome. I found them very easy to program and wire. I Will definitely order another one if needed. Great customer service. 👍

Considering the price, this is a pretty good deal. As with most foreign made products, the instruction manual is not as clear as it could be, but overall not too bad. There was enough information available online to help in setting up the VFD. The main thing missing was the wiring for the single phase connection, the manual shows a 3 phase connection, which doesn't help for a single phase 220 volt connection. If anyone else runs into the same issue, the 220 connects to terminals R and T. I can't comment on long term performance, but the available features on this unit are comparable with high end VFD's. UPDATE - have had this installed now for over 3 years without any issues, very satisfied with the performance.
