Extreme Chess Tactics Paperback – September 1, 2017

I really like the format of this book! I've always wanted to incorporate some chess studies into my tactics training, but most books with studies are too esoteric and too tough for someone with no experience solving them. Also, you sometimes wonder how practical some of these studies really are... So as far as I know, this is the only tactics book out there that combines studies and positions from real games to drive home the theme of each chapter. The length of each chapter and # of examples & exercises is also just right. Not too short and not too long. Lastly, the level of difficulty of the exercises given is perfect for someone like myself with around a 2000 USCF rating. The first few are relatively easy, yet still challenging and then they get progressively harder to the point that I can spend 15-20+ mins on one position and get the solution (sometimes), but maybe I miss an important variation/resource or something like that. So I'd say that anyone from around 1400 to 2200 or even a bit higher would get something out of this gem. I haven't yet gotten to the last couple of chapters that are the "mixed theme" positions and the "test". I can't wait! I might have to report back once I've gone through the whole thing (and I'm at 2200+... :-)))

Standard tactics book. I've seen many of these examples before.

Though I haven’t finished reading the book, so far it exceeds my expectations. It’s well laid out on my Kindle and easy to read. The ‘Maestro’ Yochanan Afek, is very entertaining with his humorous comments. It’s a good read and I’m absolutely satisfied!

It is a very good work ! I also would like very much if there were numbers and letters , so we could easily find the position of the pieces !!!

As all Afek's book this one has plenty of great moves which come as a bolt. I love all his books.

BAD PAPER QUALITY

in diesem Buch finden sich zahlreiche Kombinationsaufgaben, die nach Themen sortiert sind. Die Aufgaben sind teilweise sehr anspruchsvoll, so dass sich das Buch wohl nur für gute Vereinsspieler eignet. Ich selber (DWZ: 2125) konnte manche Aufgaben nicht lösen, obwohl ich Tage darüber nachgebrütet habe...
