I bought two of these for the home after using them at work as a volunteer barista. My daughter claimed the cute blue color for her matcha drinks, and I am using the black one at my espresso bar. They are accurate and look nice. My favorite element is the silicone base which makes it easy to clean. I can run hot water over the silicon to get rid of matcha powder or coffee grinds and dry it to make it look like new.. They are not as thin or compact as other scales and uses batteries but is a great tool and value.

Had this for over a year now and no real issues. The only issue I can think of is that if something is a bit too close to the scale, the scale can fluctuate a bit by a gram or so. Just make sure nothing is touching it, especially anything electronic. Beyond that, it's a no-nonsense scale that works great with actual tactile buttons. Its refresh rate can lag behind a tiny bit, but you get used to it by stopping your pours in anticipation. For example, I typically do 300mL pours in total, and I usually start slowing down/stopping at around 280g. Battery life is pretty good, but the battery life indicator doesn't do a good job of letting you know when you need to replace the batteries. So you may end up with it powering off mid-brew, but I've only had to replace the batteries once despite daily use over the past year or so. That being said, it's useful to also do stuff like the 4:6 method based on water level vs timer too. I'd also say it may not be extremely accurate as sometimes it fluctuates by .1 grams, but it is accurate enough for practical purposes. For reference, .1g is simply ~1 coffee bean, and unless you're an espresso perfectionist, 1 coffee bean isn't going to make any real difference. In summary: + Just the essentials if you only want the essentials + Tactile buttons + Display is pretty nice + Accurate enough for practical purposes + Battery life very good + Will work for at least a year, can't say any longer until I own it for longer + Great for the cost = WIll not refresh weight as quickly as say an acacia scale which costs at least four times as much, easy to compensate for - Battery life indicator isn't great, so it may power off mid-brew every half year or so - Sensitive to adjacent electronic devices, 1 or 2 inches is enough distance - Sensitive to adjacent objects, be mindful of anything that is touching the silicone, even if it's barely touching by a hair

First of all I bought this to replace an old plastic Kitchen Tour that was acting up on me. I mostly do espresso and specifically, lattes, with very occasional pour overs. I have only had this for a week but I really like it. It has good workspace and is light, picks up to move easily with one hand and the cover is attached firmly and does not fall off. But what i really love about it is the large well lit numbers, good early in the morning when its dark. And they are two different colors and very easy to interpret quickly and accurately (am doing single dose hand measured each time). And I really like that when I measure the beans and when I watch the shot there is little lag, the numbers do not flicker, and it is very accurate. It is a real pleasure to work with and I do not need all the bells and whistles, I can push a timer start button, and I can turn it all off when I'm done and ready. A great addition to my work station.

I'm very happy with the accuracy and refresh rate of the scale. The two tone LED color scheme is a nice touch. I also like that the silicone cover is well-affixed to the scale and won't slide around. I only wish the scale came in white! Don't be fooled by other reviews. This scale doesn't "drift" any more or less than any other scale. Those people who say otherwise are likely storing it in a very different temperature environment than their use area. See photos for the test I did with boiling hot water in an uninsulated carafe. 0.0g drift on all tests, with or without the silicone protector, after several minutes of letting the carafe sit on the scale surface. The only time I experienced measurement drift was when I got the package from 30F freezing outdoor conditions, unboxed it and tried it out without letting the scale warm up to ambient. The measured weight slowly dropped until it warmed up to 70F room temp; since then it's been rock solid. That is totally normal for any scale that any manufacturer, cheap or expensive, makes. It's just how this kind of scale works. Overall if you're looking for a nice scale with timer functionality, I highly recommend the Greater Goods scale.

in hopes this will help anyone else who bought this scale- this thing is super sensitive to vibrations. if your scale is getting off calibration for seemingly no reason, make sure the sides and the back aren’t touching anything else and that the bottom is on a flat surface and it will fix it entirely, trust me!! but aside from that, this scale works absolutely perfectly. it’s just the right size for my morning coffee, has great battery life, and is really straightforward to use. plus the silicone top makes it really easy to clean and looks nice on my countertop. the timer is super convenient for making coffee, this is an amazing scale for this price point

This scale does a great job of weighing beans and shots and timing the extraction. It fits under the group head with our espresso cups. In 8 months I think we’ve only had to replace the batteries once with daily use. It doesn’t stay on too long after you use it if you don’t shut it off which I appreciate. It’s easy to use and fairly intuitive.

Let's start with cons - there are 2.5 of them and none are really critical for this price. 1) The main thing that bugs me (and easily fixable in next versions) - there is timely indication that battery is getting low, so you'd change it in time. Once the battery runs out it just flashes "battery low" and turns off. Sometimes mid-brew, that's the most annoying this that this scale features 2) Not really washable. I don't really care much for it, but it bugs me once in a while when I take those out the cabinet and look at the dirty surface. The rubber is hard to clean so these round stains - they are semi-permanent. Also the construction makes it really hard to clean areas under the scaled padding (next to buttons) 2.5) It's not as accurate and good-looking as some proper coffee scales, even timemore looks so much better, let alone acacia or fellow (though they cost x5-10). It's good enough for home brews, but lacks the high-end scales precision. And yeah, you can tell it's cheap from the first glance. Now, the good part. Apart from the couple things above that bug me, this is a REALLY GOOD scale for it's price. One decimal precision is good enough for my home brews, buttons are reliable and properly working. Basically, one-digit precision and a timer is everything you need and this scales have it. I did rate it as 5/5, because for this price it's perfect and it serves well

I recently purchased a Maestri House S3 Scale and now this greater goods scale for my coffee making needs. I initially enjoyed the Maestri House, but found it would drift quite a bit (yes, with the cover) for about the last minute of my pour overs, probably due to the heat soaking into the scale from my glass carafe. So I decided to give this scale a try as well. So far from what I've noticed both scales can drift, but this one seems to drift less. I'll give a breakdown of both below: - Greater Goods Scale Positives - ++ Uses AAA batteries This is a big one for me. While a lithium battery is more energy dense, they are much harder to replace once they stop holding a charge (eventually). Also, you can get sets of rechargeable AAA's so as soon as you run out of battery you just swap the charged ones in with little to no downtime. Give me more products with user replaceable batteries please. + Physical Buttons, not touch. This is a plus because it's much harder to accidentally press a physical button. + Silicone cover fits well and stays secure + Scale is on top of base rather than the unit as a whole This is a positive because when I push the buttons on this scale, the scale's weight readout doesn't change. + Simple design Sometimes K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) reigns supreme. While the Maestri House has more features and modes than this scale, I cannot tell you the number of times I've used the Maestri scale wrong according to the manual which would wind up messing up some part of it's pour-over mode. This Greater Goods scale doesn't have that issue because it's a simple device. You have your timer (count up or down), mode, tare, and power buttons annnnd that's it. No extra fluff. - Greater Goods Scale Negatives - - Still drifts, but at least not that badly for me. YMMV - It would be nice to have the count up timer beep once it reaches a set time, rather than having that feature be limited to the count down mode. - Slower refresh rate than the Maestri. - Maestri House S3 Positives - + More modes (Pour-over & espresso modes) Pour-over mode with customizable ratios, and espresso mode that starts the timer once the espresso hits your cup. + Looks a bit better + smaller size than Greater Goods. + Faster refresh - Maestri House S3 Negatives -- Lithium battery, hard to replace - drifts a good amount when heated by my carafe (with silicone cover on) - touch buttons, easy to accidentally press a different button. - Loose fitting silicone cover, has a tendency to want to slide off the scale. - Convoluted process for doing pour-overs. - Pressing buttons on the scale causes weight readout to change as I push the button. I definitely think there's a market for both of these. But I would personally recommend the Greater Goods (this) scale if your main focus is pour-over coffee.

Awesome scale! Love the aesthetic and ease to use. I recommend it for the price compared with other scales. It is a great and stylish addition to my pour-over set up.

The scales lasted less than a year before breaking, the scales use a lot of battery powder and I had to replace the batteries more than i wanted to. The scales then refused to turn off and so used up all the battery power and became useless. The tare button stopped working.

INCREDIBLE until it wasn't, 7 months of this being a great scale until what looks like the load cell or what holds it has completely imploded. The scale "bed" is at an unusable angle and wobbles everywhere. Very sad, spent a good while researching this scale. All i've ever used it for is coffee 18-40g weighs.
