This is my first purchase of a lexivon tool. They are heavy duty, high quality and priced right. I would buy more from lexivon.

The front section of the tool sticks out farther before the splines start, leaving very little contact area. This can make it difficult to get a secure grip on these specific bolts. Grinding off this front protrusion remedied this issue. Durability and Build Quality: Made from high-quality materials, these sockets are built to last. I’m really happy with these. They seem to be a good quality, the case seems pretty solid and they were reasonably priced. All things considered this seem to be a really good value and good quality.

I purchased these as a set when I started having to work on more and more VW vehicles at my shop. As it’s a tool I didn’t usually have to pull out often I didn’t see the need to get an extremely expensive Snap-On or Matco equivalent for 10x the price. Flash forward to the present day and I now work on Porsche vehicles, and this socket set has never once let me down. I’ve had no issues with them rounding out fasteners or the splines chipping off or anything like that! They work great and continue to perform on a weekly basis. They’re a great price and I couldn’t see myself needing to “upgrade” to another set. I’ve also owned the same Lexivon Hex and Torx set and can say the same for those. They work excellent and at a price you can’t beat. Just get them if you need them!

Back in the day I bought the OTC super short xzn. This was the first tool I bought when I started working on Audis and I always recommend them to new techs. Over the years, I lost and broke some but I was too cheap to replace it with another set. One day I decided to buy it again and no one had it. One day I saw another brand selling the same style but they wanted a lot for it and the price kept going up. I remember seeing it over $90 and no way I’m paying that much. Then one day I saw the OTC version on Amazon and I bought it. I got the package and it was a regular style triple square. The listing was wrong. I almost gave up hope, but one day I saw this from a brand I didn’t know, but it looked like the same style as OTC and the price was right so I bought it. They work great. The material is different than the other versions. It feels more like an impact socket rather than the S2 steel from other brands. Mayhew has the dual drive but it is only 1/4” with an 11mm hex. This set allows you to use 3/8” drive or a 16mm on M10 and M12. I will update when one breaks.

I have been using these for a while now with no problems. Recently used them on a heavy duty impact wrench on rusted nuts during a brake job and stressed them well beyond what I was expecting was their braking point. But after cleaning them I saw all the teeth were still brand new. Not a chip or scratch and without braking. Hands down my best value-for-money tool buy of this year. Sidenote: fitment is very good on Volkswagen. I don't have experience with other brands so far with these tools.
