No bike lock will stop a determined and well-equipped thief. That said, this one's more likely to cause them to pick on somebody else - if they aren't the sort who destroys what they cannot steal. I get a good-quality lock because I want to have a chance to ride home, not because I have an expensive bike, and in my experience, this is a good-quality lock. Also, from personal experience, use the lock at home, too, We lost a treasured hand-assembled hybrid to a B&E jerk who was after electronics - and rode off on an irreplaceable custom that I'm sure got torn up.

Kryptonite is an industry standard for a reason. These locks are easy to use, and while heavy and a little bulky, give a good feeling of security. The longer shackle model of the lock can be a little bit harder to store on a bike however, especially if you use bottle cages. The mounting system for storage has been upgraded from previous lock models. Previous Kryptonite locks I have used included a plastic clip that was hard to attach and detach from the lock without breaking, not to mention a nightmare to install on the bike. With the new mounting kit, the plastic components are a little bit larger, but much more robust. The release mechanism feels less likely to snap, and the installation of the kit includes the use of a webbed strap and metal buckle (the bike is protected by a rubber insert) that firmly attach to the bike frame. Be cautious, however, that bike frames with non-round frame members can be a little hard to attach to.

Quality as expected from Kryptonite. Very pleased with this lock.

The main reason I bought it is because of the insurance the company offers at a reasonable cost. The lock itself seems sturdy enough but any lock is breakable. I had some trouble locking the bottom piece to the U at 1st and discovered that you have to be sure to push it all the way together or it won't lock. The rubber o rings can move and block the 2 pieces from going all the way together. You can always slide them higher up the shaft. Also, if you aren't going to use the holder it comes with, you can remove it by 1st removing the rubber o ring.

Heavy, but does the job. I use 2 locks to make things more difficult for thieves.

I’m aware that I could’ve bought this item for less if I hadn’t been in such a hurry, but I needed a new lock fast. I got it from 365 Cycles because it included next-day delivery. Kryptonite’s mounting instructions are terrible, and the wrench is useless. Despite those two irritations, I’m still giving it five stars, mostly because of fast delivery and a quality brand. Also, the locking mechanism on the Evolution New-U works more smoothly than the Keeper.

Got an opened lock,only two keys (missing main key), the original lock package is turn. The lock is a bit sticky for some reason

I cannot foresee anyone finding it worth their time to get through one of these to get my bike. The guidance is to buy a lock that costs 10% of your bike however I would disagree with that. A good D lock ensures you will come back and find your bike where you left whereas with a cable lock no matter what bike the thief can steal your bike and make it worth their time. This lock comes with 3 keys one with a light on it. everything is sturdy and several months after the original purchase the lock still works great.

Nach einem kuriosen Youtube-Video der jährlichen, polnischen Fahrraddiebemeisterschaften ist mir der Markenname Kryptonite schnell zum Synonym für qualitativ hochwertige Ware geworden. In der Tat: Ich habe für unsere zwei neuen Räder noch für den Liefertag schnell per Prime zwei dieser Schlösser bestellt, die seither täglich im Einsatz sind. Wir kombinieren sie mit dem gleichfarbigen Schlaufenkabel Kryptoflex, um Vorderrad, Hinterrad und Sattel sicher zu befestigen. Und um die Farbe geht es auch. Kryptonite bietet verschiedene Sicherheitsstufen, Gelb für die ganz großen Großstädte, Orange für Großstädte und wer weiß welche noch für kleinere Orte. Orange muss es schon sein. Überhaupt ist die Ausführung voll gummiert, und beschädigt den Rahmen daher kaum. Dann ist da noch der Befestigungsmechanismus, der zwar auch leicht zu befestigen, aber leider bei Kopfsteinpflaster leicht aus der Position kommt. Bei dem Damenrad war überhaupt kein Platz dafür am Rahmen. So habe ich die Aluminium-Halterung auch vom Schloss abgezogen und hänge es seither entweder an den Lenker, oder packe das Schloss zusammen mit dem Schlaufenkabel in die ebenfalls neu erworbenen Ortlieb-Seitentaschen. Nichts klappert mehr umher, da stört auch das Gewicht keinen Menschen. Das Metall ist wunderbar stark, die Schlösser sind sehr gut, nach zwei Monaten war allerdings ein bisschen Fettung nötig um den leichten Rost am Stahl zu entfernen. Es gibt eine kleine Klappe um Wassereintritt in das Schloss zu verhindern. Die Farbe schreckt ebenso ab wie das Schloss selbst, man muss aber eben auch immer sorgfältig den Rahmen mit einem unbeweglichen Metallgegenstand verbinden. Für jedes Rad zu empfehlen!

Muy buena calidad, aunque el peso del producto también es notable. El soporte para sujetarlo a la bici es de calidad media (porque se sujeta con una cuerda de nylon), aunque gracias a que utiliza esta cuerda de nylon, es uno de los pocos soportes para candados que me permiten colocarlo en una barra no cilíndrica (cuadros ovalados o curvos) Llevo dos semanas con el y todavía no me han robado la bici, lo cual es un logro porque está entre seis y ocho horas atada en un barrio y un lugar donde las estadísticas de robo de bicicletas son altísimas (a mi ya me robaron una anterior con la que usaba un candado de peor calidad y no dejaron ni el candado), también combino este candado junto con un ABUS Granit-54 x-Plus, para hacerla totalmente inrobable, salvo si cortan el cuadro de la bici con una radial o la valla a la que sujeto la bici...
