You get what you pay for
It’s here and tomorrow the wood wax in the polyurethane should arrive. The color was OK. They just stained it. That was it. They didn’t put a permanent protective coating on it. The box does look beautiful but all the hardware Hass to come off and it’s got to be properly finished, but I’m OK doing that I like my cheap plywood looking like it’s $500 solid wood and that’s it. This is made out of plywood. Also picked up some wood glue for the bottom drawer. I have to send that down to get it to stop sticking, and then wax it And then glued the slats in but hey, it’s all good I’m not afraid of a little elbow grease because with my grandmothers antique silver looking brand new in this box, looking brand new, I will more than recoup the resell value and the elbow grease that I had to extend to take care of both, and somebody is going to beginning a treasure that they will be able to pass down from generation to generation through their family For starters because I have to use elbow grease but hey, you can easily pop out the tree in the top that holds the stacked silverware and use this is a pretty nice stash box. I’m a little concerned that my knives are going to get bent as the lid is closed there’s not a rope Across the upper part to hold the knife handles from flopping forward did she bring the lid down but even on the higher-end ones they didn’t have that it only took 80 years for my grandmothers silverware case to disintegrate this one will probably disintegrate in about 10 to 20 years depending on how it’s manhandled. Yeah I would probably buy it again if I was forced to because of the small investment in Minwax for wood to wood glue, and everything else I had to buy to shore this up and get it looking perfect I would hate for all these chemicals to go to waste just after one use that’s why the low rating

Beautiful and Useful Enough That I’ve Retired the 75-year-old Chest Inherited from My Parents
I am a softy for antiques. Even if it isn’t in the best of shape, and especially if it has a history in my family, I hesitate to get rid of anything old. I have an old silverware chest I inherited from my parents. It’s scratched, missing a handle and several of the knife holders have come loose. So, would I get ride of this? No way, except….I saw this beautiful Wooden Silverware chest from Genrice and sole by ASVEA and saw that it would be so much better than what I have (nicer looking for sure, but so much more space!). So, I ordered it.Almost everything about this chest is first rate. Where to start…? It has strong brass (probably) handles on the two ends. That’s important because if (when) you fill it up the chest will be quite heavy. These handles are up for that (speaking from my experience). The insides of the top compartment and drawers are covered with a beautiful red velvet. The bottom two drawers slide in and out fairly easily. They don’t have any slides on them so it’s just wood on wood, but you’re not (probably) going to be opening these multiple times a day, so it’s no big deal to me. But still, I rubbed a candle on the underside of the drawer slides, and they moved even more easily. There is plenty of room to store all of your different silverware utensils. The knife holders in the lid secure the knives nicely so that they don’t wobble or fall over. My old silverware chest had fabric loops to hold the knives. This chest has slots in a velvet-covered board, so they really won’t wobble. The lid itself has really nice brass hinges (recessed into the wood) and four small magnets that hold it closed when you’re moving it around. They’re not necessary, but they’re just a little bit extra that shows the quality of the build. The joints are difficult to see as they are covered by the stain, but there was one joint on the back that I could see that showed where some of the joint interlocked with the adjacent side to provide increased sturdiness. The bottom of the chest is smooth and won’t leave scratches if you put it on a soft surface. Now, you might remember that I said “Almost everything” two paragraphs above. There is really only one thing that I’m a bit disappointed about. There are some dings and blotches and uneven staining on the lid of this chest (see pictures). It’s enough that I would have sent it back if I hadn’t gotten it through the Amazon Vine program (at no cost). As it is, I will do some touchup work on it to try to even things out. I might refinish it, but probably not as it would be difficult to match the rest of the chest. So even with these dings I’m going to rate this as a solid 5-star product. Yours probably would be unblemished, so can only rate this on the quality of the product, not docking it for a random ding or two.So, what am I doing with the old chest? I’m certainly not going to throw it out, but I’m thinking that I can use it as a tool chest on my workbench. That way I can remember where it came from whenever I’m working on something there.

Good size
I am pleased with the size of this silver chest. I needed more space for my serving pieces and this box meets my needs. I wish the drawers slid more easily but they are fine. The lining is smooth and protective. Overall, it’s a nice piece but I was disappointed when it arrived. It had fingerprints on the wood finish which made me feel like it was second hand. It’s of medium quality so I think it’s overpriced.

THIS is a very serviceable flatware chest that does it’s job . . . protecting the flatware
72/100This is not a fine piece of “furniture”. The finish is OK, the construction is sound but the fit and finish is OK. This isn’t necessarily something to put out on display, BUT, in a china cabinet holding a set of flatware/silverware is where it shines. It is definitely up to that job! In fact, the reason we got this is because we had a chest but it wasn’t large enough, didn’t have drawers, for the serving pieces. It’s not our daily flatware, but the “holiday service”. The chest is nice, it’s OK, but no one will mistake it for a priceless antique. They won’t complain either, though. It does it’s job.I may sand the finish down, clean up the fit, and refinish it with a deep rubbed finish . . . or not. It looks like it’d make a great “fixer up”.Ultimately, is it worth the price? It’s OK . . . a bit pricey, but OK

It has a show stealing look.
The finish and size of this luxury chest are eye catching and signify without a doubt this is a harbinger of treasures. It sparks curiosity and if that inquisitive eagerness is satisfied then its next marvel is revealed when its classic royal inspired crimson upholstery in its soft smooth velvet glory is proudly on display for all with in eye shot to get a glimpse of formal luxury merging with timeless style. Then it can further its peacocking by going in on full display when it opens to expose the smooth sliding drawers and continuing the show stealing, attention grabbing spectacle. This is all thanks to its very well assembled craftsmanship and attention to detail, and its more than practical designed that should be compatible with just about any formalwear set one wished to house in it.
