Excellent mouse with no added nonsense
Great mouse which is thankfully devoid of all the unnecessary bells and whistles that seem to be obligatory on "gaming" mice nowadays. There's no weird extra functions, LED underlighting, customisable weights or anything like that - just a well-built mouse with two easily accessible thumb buttons, and three extra buttons for DPI control (increase, decrease, and reset to default) situated in the middle where they're easily to reach when you want them but not in the way. The buttons all give a decent amount of resistance so you won't click them by accident but not so much that it's an effort to use, the scroll wheel has very well-defined clicks so you won't accidentally over-scroll. It tracks smoothly and glides around nicely on most surfaces, and it has a good long USB cable so you won't keep getting caught up on things while you use it. And it works perfectly straight out of the box with no need to install any additional software or mess around with key bindings. If you're after a good quality mouse that just works without getting too fancy about it, this is a great choice.

Very good mouse
I loved the old G400, and I love this. I use a palm grip, low mouse sensitivity, and a Steelseries Qck Heavy mouse pad (which I would absolutely recommend). The good:The shape is still amazing for palm gripping, the sensor is still good, the buttons are still ergonomically positioned and still feel satisfying to use. The texturing on top of the mouse gives more grip, and is a welcome addition. The biggest difference between this and the old G400 is the reinforced cable. For a low-sensitivity gamer, this is actually a really big deal - I'm not sure exactly how many times I had to replace the G400, but it was a lot. I haven't needed to replace my G400s once so far.Regardless of any criticisms I might have, this is still the best mouse I've ever used. The bad:All that being said, the dpi buttons are still stupidly placed. If you bind your scroll-wheel for use in-game, you will ocassionally accidentally change your sensitivity and that presents a pretty huge problem when it happens. This is really really dumb, and there's no easy way to disable those buttons. I hope that this is solved with the next iteration, but I somehow doubt that it will be.The logo on the back of the mouse also eventually rubs off with use, but that's a relatively minor problem. It's not like anyone is buying this mouse for its looks anyway.

Logitech improved on perfection.
I had the G400 myself. Bought the G400s for my friend's birthday.3 year warranty is a huge plus. Not to mention logitech quotes a durability of "2 million clicks". One of the boldest claims of mouse durability. In terms of durability this blows all the other top gaming mouse brands out. The mouse feels solid to the grip. The new surface of the mouse feels excellent.Thumb grip and huge size allows the palm to fully rest on the mouse. One of the most comfortable mouse out there.Comes with Logitech gaming software available to allow users to fully customize the mouse DPI, key setting, and even macros. Easily manageable.Value for money, excellent!!!

Good mouse, shame about the software
I initially chose this mouse because the Logitech website said that it would be compatible with my Mac (unlike the Amazon specifications, which say something completely different). I also wanted a mouse with lots of programmable buttons and the ability to assign unusual functions to buttons, such as double clicking and opening Spotlight. Unfortunately, the software is a bit buggy. When I first got the mouse, I wanted to assign the right hand mouse button to be a single click and the right click to be one of the buttons on the side. Alas, the mouse has decided (despite multiple attempts to reset it) that it doesn't like my configuration and won't allow me to do this. I hope that Logitech releases an update for this problem.

Worthy MX518 Replacement
If, like many, you have owned a Logitech MX518 mouse for a good few years, which you're happy with but is beginning to show it's age, then this is the ideal replacement. It has the same shape as the MX518, so if you're comfortable with that, you'll be comfortable with this. It also has the same buttons in the same locations and the same wheel action; in fact on the face it of it you'd think it was an MX518 with a paint job. There are a couple of important differences under the hood, though. First, the resolution has improved from 1800dpi right up to 4000dpi in this model. You can still choose whatever value suits you within that range (now fully customisable, so you can literally enter whatever number you want using the Logitech Gaming Software). Second, it is both lighter and smoother - there is no stuck-on label or questionable rubber feet on the bottom anymore, just some built-in larger plastic pads designed for smooth movement. All told, if you want to replace your aging MX518 with something that looks and feels similar, but with a little added smoothness and responsiveness, then this is ideal. It's not bargain basement cheap, but not ludicrously overpriced either. Add in a 3-year 2-million click guarantee and you'll be happy with what you bought.

Bad buy
I was really excited and looking forward to using the added functionality of this rodent.(notice I do not call it a mouse .... it is a rat)... however that was very short lived. I have to say that the ergonomics of it are great, fits well into the hand and feels well balanced. The operation on the other hand was very "airy fairy". A simple operation like drag and drop was turned into a frustrating fight with the left click button. Copy & paste was virtually impossible. I know this is a gaming rodent but I need it to perform simple day to day operations as well. Unfortunately I will not be able to return it too Amazon for refund as my temper got the worst of me and it is now in many pieces on my desk. Do not buy this if you are of a fiery nature nor if you want a multi purpose mouse.
