The best introduction to Acrylic painting.
I’m a beginner at all sorts of painting. I find this book a wonderful set of building blocks towards learning to paint and in particular to use acrylics.There are exercises to try at every stage. I’m still working through this.Beautiful illustrations and technique descriptions .

Not for beginners.
This is really not a book for beginners. The first couple of chapters are useful other than that it to complex. I would not buy this book if your just starting out. I would recommend Painting for the absolute and utter beginner. This is a really good book for those wanting to learn painting acrylics. Very detailed down to what to buy at the store to get started. A must have book for beginners.

good for beginners; covers art elements well - but low quality color.
Great book for beginners; covers all the elements of painting quite well.That said, my disappointment lies in the quality of book itself. the pages are dull and the color muddy; color is everything in painting so I took two stars off for that, and for the fact that the subject matter could have been more diverse.I hope other buyers get better copies - I believe this was a print to order version; they are never as good as the original printings. The price was low, so no harm done. It's in my donate pile though.

Examples are unclear badly reproduced
Love her style of painting. Great advice on handling acrylic. Thought I’d at last found the book I’d been searching for. That is until I realised I couldn’t study the brushstrokes and colours because of the quality of the reproduction. What a shame. It wasn’t an expensive book, nevertheless….. I would rather have paid more for a book which I could study and come away the wiser. At the back it says ‘Printed in Great Britain by Amazon’. Don’t think I would boast about it Amazon. Although, as I said, the written word is great.
