Amazon Basics 8-Sheet High Security Cross Cut Paper and Credit Card Shredder with P-4 Security, Auto Shut-off, Black

I purchased at least 10 shredders from all different brand in the past and have spent thousands of dollars. I had to shred at least 500 boxes of 10 ream size paper boxes since we were going digital . The average price was $79 all the way to $500. Some shredder automatically fed paper sheet per sheet, some shredder minced the paper, some shredder shred the paper crisscross, some shredded the paper course size. All broke down within six months to 3 years . I decided to purchase the Amazon brand to add to my collection of broken shredders . I am thinking if I can get a year out of it, it would be great. Surprisingly, this shredder has been one of the best shredder to date in terms of overall functionality . The price is decent, it can literally shred nonstop. The paper shred size is adequate allowing it to work nonstop without jamming frequently compared to all the previous shredders I have owned. Noise level is adequate. The bin is decent size. However, a bigger bin would be nice to minimize frequent dumping of the shredded paper. If you happen to work for the FBI or KGB, this shredder will not work for you in terms of paper mince size security but for the 98% of the individuals out there, this shredder will serve its purpose.

I've been very happy with this shredder. It's compact enough for my home office but powerful enough to handle paper and credit cards without any issues. The cross-cut shredding gives me confidence that sensitive information is being completely destroyed. It is a little louder than I expected, but honestly, as long as it shreds everything thoroughly, I don't mind the noise. It's easy to use, reliable, and a great value for the price. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

Excellent shredder. Excellent value. Durable, easy to use, and highly functional after several months of light to moderate usage. Recommend only 3-4 sheets at a time to insure against paper jams and strain on cutting motor.

I bought this shredder brand new and was pleasantly surprised by how well it performed. One thing I wasn’t expecting was its size. It’s much more compact than I imagined—about the size of a small office trash can that fits under a desk. For anyone with limited space or a home office, that’s actually a big plus. I also chose the white version because I thought it looked much cleaner and more modern than the other color options. I spent quite a while testing it and ran somewhere between 50 and 100 batches of documents, mostly feeding it 4–5 pages at a time. It handled those without any problems and shredded everything quickly and smoothly. Eventually, I decided to test its advertised 8-page capacity. As soon as I fed it 8 pages, it jammed. I tried using the reverse function to clear it, but it wouldn’t recover. The red warning light just kept blinking, and after that it stopped working completely. That was disappointing because it’s advertised to handle up to 8 sheets. It almost feels like 8 pages is more of a maximum suggestion than something you should use regularly. Aside from that issue, I actually liked using it. It’s a little loud, but that’s expected for a shredder, and I didn’t find the noise bothersome. There’s something satisfying about finally shredding old personal and legal documents knowing they can’t simply be pulled out of the trash and read. It has Forward, Reverse, and Auto modes, and Auto makes shredding very convenient since it starts as soon as you insert paper. It also handled thicker materials surprisingly well. It shredded my old driver’s license and an expired debit card like butter without slowing down. One thing I noticed is that this isn’t a machine I’d recommend running continuously for long periods because it does start to heat up after extended use. I also appreciate the built-in safety features. If the bin gets too full or isn’t seated correctly, the shredder won’t operate. However, I think the design could be improved by using a dedicated sensor instead of a mechanical trigger. A sensor would provide an extra layer of safety and reliability, while a trigger has the potential to stick or wear out over time. Overall, I really enjoyed using this shredder while it worked, and I’ll most likely return it for a replacement because I otherwise liked its performance. Despite the issue I had with the 8-sheet test, I would still recommend it—just don’t expect to feed it the full advertised capacity right away or repeatedly. Rating: 8.5/10 It’s a fast, smooth, compact shredder that’s great for home or office use. Stick to about 4–6 sheets at a time for the best long-term reliability, and I think you’ll have a much better experience. Update: After leaving the shredder unplugged for a while, I plugged it back in with the switch set to Forward, and it cleared the jam by itself. It appears the shredder entered an overload or protection mode rather than being permanently damaged. While I’m glad it recovered, I still think the advertised 8-sheet capacity is more of an occasional maximum than something you should use repeatedly. For the best experience, I’d recommend sticking to around 4–6 sheets at a time.

I was a little worried about the quality because of how affordable this shredder was, but just like the other Amazon Basics products I have purchased, it has not let me down. It works great for normal paper and can even shred a credit card offer while it is still inside the envelope. It does struggle a little when doing that, but if you remove the card and shred it separately from the envelope, it works flawlessly. I have owned it for about six months and have already filled and emptied the bin around 15 times, which is a lot of paper for normal home use. So far, it has not jammed or failed me. For the price, this has been an excellent purchase. It is simple, reliable, and does exactly what I need it to do.

I absolutely love it it was great for the price I was going to buy an expensive one but then I said to myself it's only for the home and for papers that I had for years and years and it works just as well as an expensive one I have filled it up once already I put credit cards in there I love it the only thing is I thought the handle you can carry it with you but I guess it's just for show but that's okay most of my paperwork is in my living room by my desk anyway but I would recommend buying this my daughter is going to buy one I sent her the link today and she said oh that was the one I was looking at but she wanted to make sure so she asked me to send her the link and I did it really works great and I like the way it looks and I also got the warranty I always get a warranty on anything that has to do with electronics it's so worth it

Love my new Amazon Basics 8 sheet Cross Cut Paper Shredder!! So impressed, compact size allows for storage almost anywhere conveniently. Quality is great, sturdy, exterior & quality interior. Not oversized, just right, easy to move around. Power is strong and shreds items so easily. Operation of unit is also easy. Priced very reasonable. Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Amazon!!

Amazon 6-Sheet Criss-Cut Paper Office Shredder is exactly as described. This is a powerful machine and dies the job well. It has no more noise than previous shredders except it is more powerful. It fits nicely in a corner of the room near our printer. Overall very pleased and yes, this home machine is a worthwhile investment, plus, price is right!

Picked this shredder because it was amongst the cheapest for a 12+ sheet shredder at my time of purchase and had a dedicated CD/Card shredder slot which was important to me to ensure they don't create unevenness in the main shredder teeth. Have used it for a while now and no complaints though there are a few nice to haves in a future model. There is pretty much no garbage bag that will fit in the tray unless its extremely large. Also would have been nice to have some shredder oil come with it. Have tried to avoid sticky stuff but it will shred bristol board, envelopes, padded envelopes, amazon paper packaging, single ply cardboard. Haven't had any signs of it slowing down yet. need to hold the forward and backward buttons to activate manual mode with a slight delay. Only real con is the 30 minute run time, would have been nice to have one hour.

After reading the reviews, I was carefully optimistic about this purchase. We have a small business and we had a lot of historical paperwork to shred. I wanted an automatic document feed shredder and this one fit the bill. In the 5 days since receiving the Amazon shredder, I have shredded stacks of paper. The automatic document feed works great. I put in stapled and unstapled pages, (I followed the directions and only placed the staples towards the front of the shredder) and so far no paper jams. The bin is a good size, I line it with a clear plastic bag to make bin changes easier/tidier. I can put in a stack of paper and leave the room, the shredder does the job while I'm gone.

Amazing. This shredder shreds so fast and does old credit cards really well.
