Fantastic kit that is not for beginners...however buy it anyway...
and save it for when you get confident enough to build many multi-piece assemblies with tiny parts. This kit is an incredible value at $60, compared to say the Tamiya Dragon Wagon at around $140. You get a large, very heavy duty box full of sprues, some photo etch as well as some detailing wire and rope. I hope this style box forces other model kit manufacturers to follow suit and beef up their boxes as well.I am about 1/3 the way through building this kit and you really have to pay attention to the alignment of just about every part because it's easy to get things glued wrong. When I first opened the box and began to look the parts over, I was really amazed how thin Thunder Models is able mold things like flat panels. No thick parts with fake tapered edges. Some parts of this kit look like you scratch built it from styrene cardstock. The detail is very, very impressive, especially in the winch area.Again, this kit will not build up like a Tamiya kit. Be prepared to refer to online reference photos to help you overcome the sometimes vague instructions. This model reminds me of the older Italeri kits that required a fairly high level of skill to get a nice outcome. In my opinion, Thunder Models have put the fun and challenge back into modelling with this home-run. There are a few minor mistakes, such as molding all the trailer jack handles in place instead of being a separate item as in real life. These same jacks are also missing the pressure relief screws on their bases, but this is easily overcome. After being stuck with only an expensive resin and white metal offering of this iconic tank transporter, it's simply spectacular to have such a well done version of the mighty Scammell in plastic. Well done Thunder!
