It works
There's not much to say about a lens hood. Important features: It fits my 55-250 mm Canon ST lens (I've tried others that didn't fit). It easy easy to put on the lens. Put the logo at the 9 O clock position and twist and it's locked in. It is securely fastened to you lens. . You can put it on the lens with the lens cap on. You can reverse the lens hood and put it on the lens to store it in your camera bag when you're not using the lens.The lens hood does a great job of eliminating flare. The lens hood also provides some protection for the lens against rain drops and minor bumps. You won't bump the glass. Only drawback is price -but considering what a lens costs and more importantly the time and money cost of getting to where ever you're taking pictures the price of the lens hood and the fact that it works are no really all that important.

Works and stores as it should... Buy Canon for this lens!
EF 55-250mm STM - We have tried 2 other brands to save money and had nothing but grief. One had to be stored separately.,..uuggh. This Canon ET-63 work beautifully, just a quarter turn to lock it on for use - or- flip it backwards and lock it on for storage on the lens. The camera and lens are fully functional with this hood in storage position. Snug precise fit. Truly wish we would have purchased this hood first and saved spending money on the junk hoods.

Great lens hood, worth the extra ~$10 vs other brands
This lens hood fits the Canon EF-S 55-250 mm zoom lens. I ordered an off brand version, because the original was not available. Tried and it fit, but was not perfect. When the Canon version became available, I ordered it. Canon version has a different feel, I am happy I spent that extra ~$10 to get the original. Wish it was included with the lens.

Replacement of lost lens hood
Needed a replacement lens hood for a Canon lens that I had lost. Being a Canon lens hoods, it was an exact replacement for the one I lost. Fits nice and snug when attached to lens, don't have to worry about it coming loose and falling off.

Excellent, Not Perfect
This lens hood is over 2 1/4 inches long, providing great shade, and is of excellent build quality. But storing in the reversed position is a slow, fiddly, finicky process. Somehow finding the right notch to have it securely on the lens is more work than on many other Canon lenses.

Well made
Attached this to my Canon 55-250mm IS STM and works great. Still use the IF filter & Canon lens cap. This hood fits over everything, locks in place with just a 1/4 turn. Well made and heavy duty.

Much better than the tulip shroud. Fits snuggly. Makes you look like you actually know what the heck it is that you are trying desperately accomplish, a decent photo. Provides even more protection for the lens with the added length. I notice that the lens cap doesn't fall off near as much now. Reversible also.

The right fit
Glad Canon finally made this hood for 55-250mm stm lens. After buying (2) New & Used ET-64II Canon hoods that worked this one fits. I didn’t want a cheap aftermarket brand only to come back and buy the right one.
