ROU65662 Log Splitting Maul 3.6kg/8lbs

I bought the 8lb/3.6kg to split 30cm to 40cm unseasoned walnut logs. I'm fit and young so the extra weight was not a problem. Ignore the reveiws where people say the axe needs sharpening. This kind of axe splits logs with force, not sharpness. Worked well chopping up all these logs without getting stuck (see my photos). Only used it once but looks like it will last for years. I would recommend that beginners watch how to videos on YouTube before using the axe

You will see some complain that it 's 'blunt' - you can ignore them - this is not an axe. This is a splitting maul - it works by weight. The head is a splitting wedge. Works as a sledge hammer as well, so you can drive in a grenade for those knotty logs. Well made, right weight for me - 8lbs. The 6lb splitters just don't cut it, no pun intended.

A powerful tool, maybe a bit big for me I’m 5.7 and 12st but just managed and enjoyed using it. Made light work of turning wood rings into logs. Delivery was prompt, packaging torn but no prob. So far a great product, hope it lasts.

Super heavy duty axe, makes light work splitting most types of wood that you'd want to burn. The handle is comfy & calms down most vibrations. Only downside is the shaft guard under the head can get very chewed up, but I guess that shows its doing its job.

Delighted with the Maul. The sharpness of the blade is as expected, and I am glad I had the 8lb weight just right for me as a medium size person. The cheeks on the Maul are excellent and avoid it getting stuck in the logs. Works great with dry logs, but does bounce off very wet logs. I could not be happier.

A splitting maul should be blunt and heavy but this maul has a convex rounded edge so looses alot of its initial impact force

Not splitting woods very well ! Not recommending.
