Best Strokes Album Yet
I fell in love with this album as soon as the beat drops in Tap Out. All The Time is probably the most forgettable song on the album, but I love the chorus. One Way Trigger is one of my favorite Strokes songs in a while. Then It continues with the best song on the album, Welcome To Japan. 80's Comedown Machine really changes the pace of the album, for tje better. Just when the album slows down it jumps right back up with 50/50 which is my least favorite track on the album. Slow Animals is the Strokes song that really makes you hope that they continue with this style previously used in Life Is Simple In The Moonlight. The album again perks up with Partners In Crime, a really catchy, unique, and interesting song. The Strokes really showed their range with Chances, probably the best ballad I've heard in years. Happy Endings has a originaly unique intro, and is yet another catchy pop song. Finally, The Strokes disembark from modern music and go retro like really retro, pre-50's retro, pre-40's retro, you just have to hear it. Call It Fate Call It Karma is just, wow. I really recomend Comedown Machine from a musical perspective. This is by far (musically) the best Strokes album to date. If you think they should revert back to Is This It and do two-chord rock songs then this album is not for you, but if you actually appreciate music then I can't recommend a better current album.

maybe best album since "is this it"
the only song which resembles the "old Strokes" is "All the Time" and MAYBE "50/50". All other songs sound like 80's music, with the exception of the last one, which I don't know exactly what it sounds like. The album opens sending the message right away, since Tap Out has 80's "written" in every beat and riff. Julian is singing in high pitch a lot, sometimes sounding like a woman. The songs are very "elaborated", with more than the basic rhythm/lead guitars that were so typical of them in the first 3 albums. The best songs: Tap Out, Welcome to Japan, and Call it fate Call it Karma. Other very good ones: Slow Animals, Chances, All the time, One way Trigger and Partners in Crime. Good but not great: 50/50, 80's Comedown machine and Happy Ending.

Great Record! The Strokes are the best band!
Love the album! The review I previously wrote needs to be redone. I gave it one star because it was skipping. But little did I know it was my fault.... my record player needed to be fine tuned, so I apologize for the initial poor review of the quality of the record. It’s a great product!

great album
Only for devoted fans. Honestly i had to listen to it twice before I really started to dig it. Very different than there previous albums. A lots less of there Iconic Guitar rifts but Casablancas comes through with well developed lyrics and tight melodies. More on the Sythn Pop side and definityly connected with Casablancas solo album. The strokes are one of the great bands of the early 21st century dont miss out...

Great choice!
The vinyl sleeve didn't feel as high quality as I felt it should but other than that, the sound was great and I'm ultimately very happy with this purchase!Keep in mind I am no vinyl expert and these are merely my thoughts after having owned this for a few months now.Would buy from this seller again!

Designed for vinyl
The Strokes really moved leaps and bounds ahead of other artists in the goal of producing for vinyl. This album, even simply based on the cover, was made to be listened to on a decent record player. If you’re a fan, this is a must-have in the collection

Rollingstone Way Off
The RS review of this was not the most kind, but I am just loving the album. Very catchy songs mixed in with ones that you might have to digest more than once to get into. Are the Strokes sounding the same as they did in 2001? No, but who is. The Strokes are making very interesting music, but can we just get a tour this year to support this record?
