It's easy to setup
I wish I could give this product 5 stars. I really am. It's easy to setup. It's fast so I am not sure why in the forum people complaining that it's very slow. But one of the key features is for it to sync with my Dropbox account. There is nowhere in the manual that shows how to do that. I google and found nothing. The tech support is so clueless. Until they could fix this UX issue then I am more than happy to change my rating.

A GREAT DISCOVERY. WHY IS THIS COMPANY NOT BETTER KNOWN?
After many disappointments with other brands and models, finally a drive that fits my specific needs. I use this drive to transfer music files to from my PC in another room. Works flawlessly. I then use the drive to "link" via wireless router to my ARIA music server, which has a limited storage option. Again, works flawlessly. This last is where other drives fell down. They repeatedly "lost" several tracks on almost every album. Not Apollo. The set-up was fairly easy, but I probably do not use the drive to its full potential. The unit makes no noise at all and stays very cool, so no worries there. All in all, a great discovery!A follow-up after using this drive for some time. No problems, but I do not like the fact that the unit up-loads everything to a "central server" . Given the fact that I have 2 TB of music files, this is going to take forever. And I am told by Apollo this cannot be turned off! It's very annoying, because the unit stays on, running all the time. If there is anybody that knows how to disable this, I'd be happy to hear about it.Otherwise, a great unit!

Does not work with Apple Time Machine, tech support not helpful
Updated Mar 3, 2021:Competing product (about the same price) Synology NAS DiskStation works like a champ! Backed up 500GB within a few hours, and has been rock-solid with Mac OS Big Sur using standard Time Machine backups.------I bought this because it claims to be compatible with Apple's Time Machine. It *sort* of worked for a while, but was incredibly slow (as in, wait for 30 minutes for a Time Machine folder to appear). It seemed to back things up for a few months, but then one day stopped being able to finish a backup. It attempted to complete a single backup over 90 days (yes, I waited for it to finish a single backup for 3 months, just to see if it would complete), but never finished.Tech support asked me to reboot. Yeah, did that, even upgraded MacOS. Do not recommend for use with Apple at all. I wish Apple still made Time Capsule, because that thing was rock-solid and FAST. Guess I'm going to have to pay for iCloud's expensive storage now...EDIT: Buying a Synology NAS DiskStation; will come back to review it once it arrives

Alas, no. (Was: I'd give this 5 stars (and may yet), but ...)
P.S. See my work-arounds in the comments. The device seems to work well once you get past those hurdles.Revised again: with no help from the (obviously contracted-out) "technical support" staff, I found work-arounds for the two errors that were preventing me (and, I assume, anyone else running macOS X 10.13.4 "High Sierra") from either mounting or using this as a Time Machine volume. But it shouldn't take a NASA Computer Engineer with console-analyzing skills to get an "appliance" like this running properly. Still, I was able to do so, so I'm giving them a better rating (which I could do a half-star). For those that don't encounter these errors, it looks like a useful device for the money — certainly cheaper and more secure than third-party cloud services.Revised: After being told by one Promise tech support staff member that the failed Time Machine support was a known issue, another insisted that there is no such known issue and Time Machine works fine. They then pointed me to StackOverflow for a "fix", which I had already seen and tried (without success) before contacting their support in the first place. Their online support is obviously scripted, uninformed, and even contradictory. Having no confidence that I would ever get this working, I've decided to return the unit. IF it worked as promised, it would be a great buy; but it doesn't, and the support seems clueless.I'd give this 5 stars (and may yet), but there's a bug in the firmware that prevents this from working as a Time Machine volume if you are running the latest macOS (10.13.4, High Sierra). A fix is promised, but no ETA. So be aware of that if you need to use this as a networked Time Machine solution right away.

Geared towards basic, low end user
Cannot honestly rate the tech support since I didn't have to use it! Install of the hard drive and the application to use it is very easy. This hard drive is designed for the low end user that wants to back up their camera roll and other random files. If your looking to stream videos and shows you own then this may not be the system for you. With a new baby we have accumulated 1000s of photos on our phones and didn't want to pay Google or Apple for the ability to keep then for the next decade in subscription costs to a server. If your photos are already organized on your phone into albums than you will have an organized Apollo cloud. If not, you will have a long process of uploading them into some kind of folder system.Overall great system at a good entry price.... Still have not broke even from the cost of monthly subscription to the cost of the unit but keeping my fingers crossed.

Easy to set up and use personal cloud
Easy to set up and use personal cloud. I took literally just a few minutes to get up and running. I use this as a dropbox replacement - time machine backup for our household MacBook laptops, as well as an "auto-magic" backup of my iPhone camera roll. I've tried many other devices that have claimed to do what the Apollo Cloud does, but none have worked as well, or have been as easy to get configured. If you want a device you truly can "set and forget" this is the one!

Look for another back-up solution.
I continue to have tons of connectivity issues with this device and it is not backing up most of the time. Software to control it is poorly designed and not at all intuitive.

I might change this review if they were easy to get support from but it appears it's quite ...
I bought this but the installation software doesn't work on a lot of the office pc's. During the apollo cloud library downloader it just sits counting errors and without the software the NAS is inaccessible.I might change this review if they were easy to get support from but it appears it's quite difficult!!!
